Why We Like The Salomon X Ultra 360 Mid CSWP Boot
We don't have to choose between lightweight hiking boots and supportive hiking boots, thanks to the Salomon X Ultra 360 Mid CSWP Boot. The latest offering in the best-selling X Ultra line, this new mid-cut features lightweight synthetic mesh uppers and Salomon's Advanced Chassis, which adds foot support and ankle stability without slowing us down or weighing us down with a full-length shank. That time-tested technology provides plenty of agility and stability for our day hikes while Salomon's proprietary waterproofing and outsoles provide all-weather performance at a more wallet-friendly price than other hiking boots in the X Ultra Series.

Snug fit
They are comfortable, but they are a bit snug. Probably due to a lot of padding in the upper. I first bought size 9 (my usual size) but had to return them for a 9.5. They are not much roomier, and a bit narrow. Especially on my right foot, but that’s part is probably a me problem. Too bad they don’t have them in wide. Haven’t decided if I will keep them or if they are too narrow to keep.

Tight!
I bought a pair of 9 1/2s and they were too tight. Returned and went up to a 10. Still too tight. These seem like great boots but made for people with really narrow feet. If I go to 10 1/2s it will look like I’m wearing clown shoes. Not sure if I can use a stretcher to widen.

Perfect all around hiking shoe
I’ve been wearing Salomon low cut shoes for years hiking really big mountains. Some major concerns that I have to contend with on long, strenuous hikes above treeline is fatigue and potential injury. I was hesitant to try other styles due to additional weight, but that is a non issue with these, they support my ankles better, offer more protection while scrambling over boulders and still provide the lightweight performance I’ve come to appreciate.

Hook at top of laces broke from boot
The hook for the laces at top of boot popped off. This looks like a really bad design. I have owned several pairs of Salomen X Ultra boots. The Goretex model had a metal hook at top of laces. Salomen has chnged the sizes of these boots. The XUltra Goretex have moved from Vietnam to their Cambodia plant. Way to narrow now for my feet. The X Ultra mid is small but not to narrow (currently made in Vitnam plant). I needed 1/2 size bigger than my old boots. Problems that need to addressed Salomen!

Comfortable Security
It is a pleasant experience to walk and ride on trails for several days in a row, they are very comfortable, light and work great on the trail and in the city. Excellent option and a great color and look.

First review
So far so good. They are very comfortable and breathable. Feet don’t seem to sweat much. Waiting for it to rain to see how waterproof they are.

Great so far
I'm impressed. I purchased these boots recently and used them, more or less out of the box, for an 8 day backpack trip (~30lb pack/~75 miles) in the Beartooth Mountains. The fit is excellent. They're light, stable, and protective. The traction is great. The waterproof protection worked well. I can't speak to the long-term durability, but they've held up well so far. My only complaint, and it's not a big deal, is that they smelled pretty bad after the first day. These are a serious upgrade after using trail runners for hiking and backpacking for many years...without much of a weight penalty. Side note - I intended to purchase the X Ultra 4, but after trying both models on, I went with this boot because it fit better and felt more substantial, especially the sole.
