Manta Tech GTX Mountaineering Boot
Scarpa has been refining the Manta Tech for nearly three decades now, and this current Manta Tech Mountaineering Boot now has Gore-Tex waterproofing to ensure proper weather protection. Not only does this Gore-Tex give waterproof protection, but also provides insulation to keep you warm in higher altitudes. Perwanger's strong suede leather encapsulates the upper for long-lasting durability, and flexible zones eases mobility while walking up and down mountains. Vibram rubber gives the sole solid traction, and it's possible to resole without affecting the boot's semi-automatic crampon compability.

These boots saved my life as I am a climber with size 14.5 feet. These boots are fairly light and pretty rugged. The one complaint is the lacing system doesn't really allow you to cinch tight at the bottom of the tongue. Otherwise I really like them

Bought these boots a week ago and did a light 4 mile break in hike up and down this morning. Here are my thoughts. I was looking for a boot to use during colder weather. Boots are lighter than I thought they would be in comparison to an older pair of Garmont leather Dakotas that I've been wearing. I would not describe them as deep winter boots for temps below zero but they should do what I need them to do most of the time in NH and Maine. They are slightly more flexible in the upper than the Garmonts. Fit in forefoot is a bit wider than the Garmonts. I threw out the stock footbed and installed the Superfeet green footbed which I've always used. They were very comfortable on the break in and no issues. In terms of sizing, I'm wearing a medium weight sock. I bought both a 44.5 and a 45 to compare. With the medium weight socks, I ended up getting size 45. The 44.5 was going to be a bit tight, though it would probably be fine as a summer boot with thin socks. For comparison to other shoes, I wear an 44.5 in the Garmonts, a bit tight, and size 11 in Brooks Glycerin running shoes. I wear a 10.5 in several shoes from LL Bean, the bison loafer and the Stonington shoes). Width was very good - I have D width fairly skinny foot and leg. Overall, very happy with the fit. Very comfortable. P
