Plus Saddle
When it comes to comfort, it only takes one ride down a cobbled street for your sit bones to get the rude awakening that your saddle just doesn’t have what it takes in the cushion department. Fortunately, companies like Selle SMP have a deep understanding of the punishment that rough roads can put on the body, which is why they craft the Plus Saddle for Men with a little extra cushion to take away the sting. This saddle combines sleek, hand-stretched leather and Lorica uppers with a generous 159mm width to keep you supported through the long miles.
At first glance, the Plus Saddle might cause some confusion with its overpronounced downturned nose, but we assure you that there’s a purpose to this well designed (albeit unusual) appearance. Selle’s downturned saddle nose offers significant benefits to your ride. First, it combines with the wide center channel to reduce pressure on your most sensitive anatomy, but secondly it offers a perch to balance on when you’re out of the saddle and crushing steep grades, but need to put just a little extra torque down.

This seat is sweet!
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I just got it last week and have been out twice on it climbing lots of hills and riding gravel roads in Vermont. I love this seat. It is very comfortable, and the climbing performance is noticeable.

Your junk and the boys down there feeling pressure? Be nice to your junk and the boys. I have a wide set of sit bones and this seat feels like going from an un-saddled rhinoceros to riding a soft saddled unicorn. Cant really say much else. My junk and the boys also feel free of the usual saddle pressure.

Ignore the Haters

Saddles are very personal, and I confess that I may just be lucky that my SMP Plus seems to be made especially for my pelvis' sit bones. But this seat was an epiphany for me, and it's all I've ridden for years on all of my bikes. I can bore comfortably through a headwind for 30 minutes seated in the drops, no matter how rough the road. When changing positions I glide over the seat with plenty of room for my boys. And the nose droop is a perfect perch for spinning on steep climbs. Yes, you will be mocked with puerile manhood jokes. Jokes, however, are a small price to pay for a saddle that you can sit on forever with out pain. One warning; if you buy this saddle, you'll never go back.

I had been riding a Specialized Power Saddle for the past few years without issue. With the pandemic I no longer taught spinning classes and set my road bike up on a Wahoo Kickr for indoor riding. I began to get chaffing which lead to saddle sores on my upper hamstring region. After researching saddles I took a leap of faith and purchased the SMP Plus as there were no demo?s available. After installing and adjusting I really like it! No more chafing and very comfortable...I now have it on both my bikes. On my outdoor bike I have it mounted to a Specialized Cobble Gobbler suspension seat post and am very comfortable even with extended rides...really saved me!!!
