Stratos Saddle
With comfort and reduced pressure in mind, Selle SMP took a look at the traditional saddle and did a good deal of tweaking to land on its SMP4BIKE line, and the Stratos Saddle fits neatly in the middle of the lineup. The Stratos features Selle’s recognizable shape that aims to keep you supportive and free of extra pressure whether you’re hammering out through cobbled classics, or going on a cruise up steep canyons alike.
To achieve these pressure-relieving qualities, the Stratos is crafted with a large open channel in the center to keep your most sensitive anatomy free of pressure points, and a sloped “beak” that offers you a flat base while sitting, and a perch for those crushing climbs. The Stratos is situated between the Glider and Evolution models, and is designed to accommodate cyclists with average-width pelvises by offering an average-width profile, and moderate elastomer padding to take the sting out of rough roads.

Good comfort, annoying product labeling
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
Most comfortable saddle for me after trying many others, however, they're certainly overpriced. Furthermore, the raised stitched lettering all over the saddle is quite annoying, both aesthetically and functionally. It could increase friction where you don't want it. Totally unnecessary to have so much advertising all over the saddle. There's even a reflective plastic piece at the back of the saddle with Selle prominently displayed. Finally, the leather is a bit thin and fragile, showing significant wear after 1 year.

SMP for the win
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I've been an avid SMP saddle user for quite some time. I find them to be the most comfortable saddles I have used to date. In the SMP line up I can ride a couple of the saddles and depending on the bike is how I choose which one. Century rides or Trainer = SMP Stratos Fat Bike = Stratos Enduro bike = Drakon Road Bike for crits = Drakon Now just recently I have been riding the Blaster and really love it, I feel that will be my new saddle for the road bike. The reason I have the Drakon as I wanted a saddle that would allow me to slide up a bit when going on break aways or get over the cranks a little more prepping for that big sprint and the Stratos was not allowing me to do that like I wanted. Now that I have the Blaster I feel that will be the new road saddle and even take over for the mountain bike as well. For Reference Cat 2 Road 5'9" 32" inseam 34" waist 175lbs
