Quality product

Upon opening, the Shimano XT bottom bracket looks like a quality piece. I never had any problems with the three Shimano bottom brackets I have used in the past 13 years. Two of the cheaper Shimano bottom brackets were installed in the completes I had purchased back in 2011 and 2012. On a custom build, I used an XTR. There was no discernible difference, so I went slightly cheaper with the XT bottom bracket this time around. I have not used it yet, as I am waiting for my Stanton frame to come in from the UK. But I have confidence that it will pair perfectly with my new Race Face Aeffect R crankset.

Works with GRX crankset

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

As I went to put it all together and realized my GRX cranks suggested an Ultegra BB rather than this XT BB I got. After talking to a few LBS folks I know, they reassured me they're pretty much the same thing. All together with 100 mi. in it works perfectly!

Cheap and Easy

These bottom brackets are tough but they do wear out over time, fortunately they are fairly inexpensive and easy to install. I've had both the XT and the XTR on my bikes and honestly, unless you are sponsored by Shimano or saving a couple of grams will make you feel better about your bike, the XT is more than enough. XT is like the F-150 (or Tacoma) of component line ups, maybe not the fanciest in the stable, but really good at most everything and incredibly dependable.
