Why We Like The Simms Flyweight Plier
Our go-to tool on the water, the Simms Flyweight Pliers weigh less than 5 ounces but pack in all the features we want when we're fishing. They feature stainless steel jaws and built-in cutters for crushing barbs, pinching split shot, and cutting monofilament, and snipping tippet. The holster attaches to HEXGRID, MOLLE webbing, 38mm wading belts, or wader suspender straps, so we don't drop the pliers in the river.

Almost great
The jaw design is pretty good but poorly manufactured, both the jaws and body are CNC milled so I don't understand how they are so poorly aligned. The handle is too slick and the finger grooves are sharp, handle ends are too pointy. Could of been an amazing pair of pliers had the tolerance been held better and design of the handle to priorize function over preceived "cool" look. The holder is very neat but the attachment method feels awkward to use and not stable or secure, not very well planned and feels like an after thought. Design of the holster is ugly too like the overly angular grip. Could of been great but missed a few marks. Got mine at 50 percent off but otherwise wouldn't be worth it

Very pleased with pliers. Holster could be improved.
The pliers are absolutely fantastic. You can tell that they are made very, very well. There a little smaller than I expected they would be, but the size definitely wasn't a disappointment. I have very big hands and have found that despite their relatively small size, they are easy to use. I have mine attached to my sling pack's main strap, so they're very accessible. I've found that they do have a tendency to come out of the "holster" that comes with them when the handles are bumped. That's because squeezing the handles together or pushing inward on one handle or the other causes them to release. The way the pliers are retained in the holster is pretty cool. I'm not sure which way to lean on the rubber strap that straps the holster in place....I can see that failing at some point, but it does seem to hold everything pretty securely. I'd rather see a more permanent and secure way to secure the holster. When I drop them or knock them out of the holster, the attached lanyard saves them every time, which is nice.

I ordered a sets of pliers on 2 occasions. They are great. My issue is that they each took a month arrive. You shipping method for something so small is terrible. I???m in Alaska but that???s not an excuse. You need to re-evaluate and use regular mail for things like this

Please redesign a better holder
The pliers are great, crimp well, cut well, great size for trout. The holder is the worst piece of gear I have. I wear it on my wading belt for ease of access, and the pliers are constantly falling out. I have tried moving it to different positions around my belt but does not make a difference. I hope Simms comes up with a better holder and offers it separately.

Flyweight Plier
I’ve used a flyweight plier for several years, now. They were a gift from my son. He comments on them each time we fish do for his BDay, I bought him one. They are great; easy to access and very functional.

Good tool
Like them. A lot. Fit my hand easily for a quick crimp or cut. The rubber clip on the base of the holder is small. Like them and the holder in unique.

Well made pliers
Nice well made pliers. My only complaint is they are a bit smaller than I was expecting. Great freshwater pliers. Crushes barbs with ease, cuts tippet surprisingly well. I would look to another option for toothy critters as they would get your hand a little close to those teeth for comfort with their smaller size.

Sweet little Oliver but not a great choice for saltwater use
The pliers are very functional however, the holster does not keep them from falling out. The cutter is perfect by the space on the other side is too small so they will not cut saltwater loops off of flies when using 30lb mono and up.

Good for travel
Nice to have a light pair of travel pliers that TSA is OK with in my carry on. Working just fine
