Why We Like The Simms G4 Pro Jacket - 2024
While our Simms waders keep our lower half dry in the water, the G4 Pro Jacket keeps our upper half dry in the wet weather where the fish bite best. The shell features the most durable GORE-TEX waterproofing, GORE-TEX Pro, for guide-grade protection in the toughest conditions with an adjustable storm hood and watertight cuffs to prevent water from sloshing up our arms when we dunk our hands underwater or catch and release fish. Going above and beyond your average rain shell, it also features a flip out vertical loop fly patch, tons of on-body storage pockets, and spacious rear game pockets to keep fish or stash extra layers.

Monsoon proof
After cheaping out on numerous other un insulated rain jackets that leaked after a hard rain I finally bought the G4 Pro. I’m several monsoons in with this coat and zero leaks. Plus it’s comfortable and loaded with great pockets and features. Thank you Simms!

Wore it today on the Delaware in a full on rain. Impervious! And warm! Sr

Solid well designed jacket - a definite improvement
I have only worn a few times but last time it was raining hard and gusting over 40. The jacket kept me completely dry. Very nice wrist closures, clever storage spaces inside the pockets. The pass through pockets are very hand for accessing layers under the shell. Looks great and easily passes as an everyday rain shell. May run a tad large

G4 jacket
I like almost everything about this jacket EXCEPT the stupid orange coloration on the hood.

Arms are tight, less casting mobility
I own the previous version of this jacket in the same size and was stoked to see an improvement over the super tight collar that wouldn't allow for hooded layering when fully zipped. This open hood version fits much better in that regard and allows for greater comfort and protection around the neck and chin when fully zipped up with or without hooded layers. The pass-through zippers which double as vents are great, but I wish they would have stuck with the huge back pocket access like in the previous version which greatly increased the carrying capacity of the jacket and would allow you to shift the bulk off the front of your body which helps with spey casting, etc. The cuffs on the previous version were IMO the best snag-free cuffs ever! The Velcro tabs on the new cuffs snag loops and don't tighten nearly as much as the previous version. The biggest issue I had is with the cut of the arms- they are shorter and narrower towards the wrist than the previous version which greatly restricts casting mobility and layering. The rest of the jacket fits great! I'm returning the new one mainly because of the mobility issue in the arms and would encourage folks to pick up the previous one at a discount while it lasts until Simms dials the next one in a bit better.
