Why We Like The Barra ChromaPop Polarized Sunglasses
Smith certainly styled the Barra Chromapop Polarized Sunglasses for the streets, there's no doubt about that, but subtle undertones really optimize these lenses for fishing. The Chromapop lenses filter two specific, unwanted wavelengths of light that cause eye fatigue and color confusion in order to deliver greater definition and popping colors. The skies will look bluer, the grass greener, and the lake will be all the more beautiful when we pull a rainbow trout out of the water. Smith treated the backside of each lens to reduce glare when we're fishing away from the sunlight.

Broke 2 Pair, Cheap Plastic, no warrenty
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
Design/Manufacturing flaw, very fragile. As others have mentioned the arms easily snap off an immediately unusable. I went through two pairs of these. First time thought it was me being too rough, but the second pair broke in the same way within a week. If any pressure is applied to them when they are folded (I.e hanging on shirt or in backpack) they snap. When I messaged smith, they said it’s not covered by warranty. So out $300+ as they do not sell replacement parts either.

Barra glass lens
Great lenses but frame is not good for fishing, which is what these were bought for. They look good but are not comfortable. Rubber and frame are separating and cracking after only a few months which was disappointing. Very forward heavy, even with croakies they slide off if you're looking down, which is almost constant while fishing. Better off going with the Guide's or a plastic lens to balance the weight.

Lines in lens tint
Love the style and fit of these glasses and how sturdy they are. Unfortunately both lenses have developed lines in the tint coming from the sides. These have stayed in the protective storage bag unless being used so they've been shielded from harm or so I thought.

So far, all is good!
I'm looking forward to using these new sunglasses for fly fishing. The lens color is a little dark so shadows will be very dark. Overall the product seems durable and high quality. It would be wonderful to have a band for times when the glasses come off, so their not dropped and washed down the river.

Nice glasses, great service
These glasses have great frame material and VERY large lenses, which make them great for progressive-focus lenses. Smith, unfortunately, negated one of my prescription lens focus specifications, but they gave me a credit (not as much as the glasses) and I had a local optometrist install lenses with the correct focus.

These glasses are heavier than
These glasses are heavier than the normal glass lenses. However, the fit and sun protection are great!

I have been wearing smiths for decades. I think these ones are my new favorites. The quality is solid and the lenses are beautiful!

Well made but optical issues.
Comfortable, well made, attractive but not great for driving - polarizing effects through windows and reflective colors on other car windshields is distracting.

Lenses are great, not good for outdoors in heat
The second your nose starts sweating, they will slide. Not great for hot days on boats, or wearing them outside when hot. Lenses are great and I believe in their lens tech, just the functionality is not good esp. for the price. I highly recommend Smith Optics to consider making cycling-style frames for fishermen in hotter climates.
