Why We Like The Embark ChromaPop Polarized Sunglasses
Unlike most glacial glasses, the Smith Embark ChromaPop Polarized Sunglasses are something we'd wear on the drive to the trailhead as well as the alpine. The side shields are an absolute necessity in the alpine because sunlight's bouncing off snow and rocks, and they're removable whenever we aren't in the alpine. These sunglasses feature Smith's best optics available, too.

excellent, but the side shields can fall off and I want to get a replacement...
I've always had excellent sunglasses--meaning superb optical performance registering the scene in front of me AND I liked the way I looked wearing them. I keep my sunglasses until they can't be repaired or I lose them. My last pair, Maui Jim's, I had for seven years, so I was kinda giddy when I lost them. I looked around and chose the Smith Embark. I have other Smith products so was confident they'd be excellent. And they are. At any elevation they make the world a better looking place (and I like how I look :-). But I just lost a side shield and am looking for a replacement. Anyone out there know where I can get one? My only recommendation is for Smith to give you two sets. May be a mea culpa on their part, but it also would be a good look, lookin' out for their customers who buy their expensive stuff. You read these reviews, Smith? Where can I get a replacement side shield?

Smith embark
These glasses have great lenses. However the build quality is subpar. They feel extremely cheap. They creak and groan unfolding them and moving them around. For the price, I expect a way better build quality. This will most likely be my first and last purchase of Smith sunglasses.

Favorite New Shades
They took a little getting used to since they have fairly full coverage, but I've grown to love them and wear them almost every time I'm in the mountains. I've been more sensitive to glare from my peripheral vision, these have helped immensely to reduce it. I wear them hiking, skiing, mountain biking and on the water.

Sticky inner lense is a problem
Everything about these glasses is great, except the inner lense. Another reviewer mentioned it but I still figured I would give them a try. As they said, impossible to clean without soap and water.

Awesome glasses
Ordered a pair to try them out in the Matte Black + ChromaPop Glacier Photochromic Copper Blue Mirror Lens. Liked them so much I just ordered 3 more pairs for all my kit bags so I never forget them. I’m out in the back country, skiing and snowshoeing a month strait during the winter in the Sierra Nevadas and these glasses have held up great with constant abuse.

The hinges on the temples
The hinges on the temples began to break through the plastic after two weeks of use. Smith does not seem interested in standing behind the quality of their products at all.

So close
I really wish that the photochromic copper blue lens was polarized, it would make these ultimate freshwater fishing glasses. Polarized and photochromic in that vlt would be a game changer.
