Why We Like The Forefront 2 MIPS Helmet
Mountain biking protective gear is constantly being re-engineered to be lighter, stronger, and sleeker, seeing demanding trail and all-mountain riders want more comfortable helmets without sacrificing good looks. Following this evolution in design, the Smith Forefront 2 MIPS Helmet builds on the success of the original with increased aerodynamics, heightened protection, and airy-cool ventilation in a sleek, attractive lid for trail and all-mountain disciplines.
Smith's proprietary Aerocore In-Mold construction pairs traditional EPS foam with Koroyd tubular structures for better ventilation and a lighter overall weight, but without sacrificing impact dispersion and structural integrity. For the Forefront 2 Helmet, Smith fully encompasses the backside of the helmet with Koroyd structures for an even lighter, more airy feel than before. 20 optimized vents work with Koroyd tubular structures, allowing built-up heat to readily escape in all directions, so you're not susceptible to overheating and excessive sweating.

Crash tested and Amazing
I had a big crash on the White Rim trail that broke my collarbone and dented my helmet, left me with a knot above my left eye as well. My helmet was on tight and kept me from what could have been a terrible head injury. I will replace with same helmet when I can ride again. The ability to lock this helmet tight on my head was key. The ER doc was impressed!

Comfy and crash certified, did not concus
Crash tested into asphalt, could still remember my birthday as well as America’s and my wife’s (which is not always a given. The fit system is phenomenal and the flip up visor is wildly under rated. Comfy, breathable and safe, buying the exact same one to replace it.

Warranty issue
Loved this helmet and had the chin strap break from the helmet behind the ear after less than a year of wearing it. They said it did not qualify for the warranty and have not provided a reason. I am disappointed their written policy was not upheld. Great helmet look and fit otherwise. Really not sure what happened to the attachment point though, has not happened on any other helmet I’ve had.

Horrible Customer Service

I just had my first (and last) interaction with Smith customer service. Poor is an understatement. I have a Smith Forefront 2 I purchased at the end of the season 2022. The inner liner that is supposed to move in a crash is now cracked and will not stay in place. This makes the helmet move around freely. I have never been in a crash or dropped the helmet. Smiths response is “Sorry it's not under warranty here is a 20% off of a new helmet”... Really?!?! I have to trash my helmet because a flimsy piece of plastic cannot be replaced? Crazy. I've had interactions with many other companies in the outdoor industry and this is by far the worst. I will never purchase another Smiths product. Too bad because until the liner cracked it was a great product.

Solid helmet

Looks good and feels pretty good. My hair gets stuck in one spot in the front sometimes and I get a bit of a headache if I have it tightened down snuggly. Only giving four stars because I ended up with a whole different color combo from what I ordered, but I like it now that it’s here.

Sizing throughout the Smith line is inconsistent
The helmets appear to be good quality. Unfortunately, Smith’s sizing charts say a Youth medium snow helmet and an adult medium bike helmet have identical circumferences. We got the bike helmet and they weren’t even remotely close. Sizing should be consistent throughout a company, and head circumference sizing should be a pretty easy thing to get consistent.

Easy to fit and comfortable.
Easy to fit and comfortable. In addition not like other helmets I had in the past, it gives protection again the sun while maintaining ventilation.

Love it!
Great fit for me. Comfortable. Good coverage. I like the visor and how mobile it is and how it holds its position.
