Why We Like The Squad MTB ChromaPop Goggles
The Smith Squad MTB ChromaPop Goggle provides brilliant clarity and vibrant color rendition when you're ripping downhill over massive boulders, clearing bigger gaps in the bike park, and pushing your limits in the local enduro series. It's equipped with Smith's ChromaPop lens, which enhances color rendition and improves visual acuity—both of which are vital to seeing nuances in the trail and changes in terrain when you're moving at high speeds. Smith includes a spare clear lens for riding in low-light conditions. Both the ChromaPop and clear lens come with an anti-fog treatment, which prevents excessive sweat and condensation from obscuring your vision.
Smith's Squad MTB Goggle is helmet compatible, so you'll be able to wear it with both full face and enduro-style lids. The wide, silicone-backed strap won't slip or fall off your helmet, even in wet conditions. Additionally, the Squad is a medium fitting cylindrical goggle, meaning it'll fit a large range of riders, plus it's compatible with Roll/Tear Offs for clear vision in mucky conditions.

DO NOT BUY - SO AWFUL
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I am so confused by the hundreds of fabulous reviews for these goggles. I purchased them and the first day I wore them, they were fine enough, but on the second day it was snowing and they were AWFUL. Because the vents in the top and side of these goggles are so large, the snow was coming in through them and gathering INSIDE the goggles. Along with the build-up of snow, the INSIDE of the goggles was icing up. The inside! The snow and ice build-up was so bad my visibility went down to about 20%. I had to stop at the top of every run, take off the goggles, and try to scrape the ice and snow off the inside best I could with glove, just to get enough visibility to make it down the mountain. Sometimes I just put them on my helmet so I could see better than with the goggles on, even with the snow falling, completely defeating the point of them. I've attached a picture of the snow build-up, but note that that's after being inside for several minutes when all of the ice and much of the snow had already melted--it was 10x worse out on the slopes. No one else I was skiing with had this problem with their goggles.

Defective twice
I would give 0 stars for the products that were shipped to me but 1 star for managing the return and replacement promptly. I ordered Smith Squad goggles in color black and received the melted rubber padding inside the band. I was very disappointed and I got a replacement option to give it another try. The second one that came as a replacement had the same issue. Now returning the second pair for a refund. This is my first time ordering with Backcountry not sure if I will be able to order anything in the future. Very disappointed!

They Breathe too well
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
The holes for ventilation are so big an occasional bug or piece of dirt starts rattling around. It has only happened twice but it was annoying. Otherwise, great goggles.

Nice goggles
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
Look well made and durable, dropping 4 stars cause the description is a little misleading. I thought I was getting a transition lens "chromapop". With an additional clear guess the description was for a different model but description didn't change when I selected "black /clear". I only received a clear lens keeping the 4 stars cause CC is an awesome organization.

Solid eye protection
Great clear goggles for muddy days. I ride mostly PNW and these help keep stick and mud out of my eye. Great visibility. I haven't had any fog problems.

Great combo with my Mainline Full-Face Helmet
This is the first new goggle I’ve bought in a long time. It looked like a good fit to match with my new Mainline Full-Face DH helmet and it is fantastic! The Mainline helmet has a huge face opening and this goggle fits perfectly to provide a wide and unobstructed view on the trail when riding.I’ve been running glasses with Chromapop and I’ve become accustomed to the great clarity and detail and this lens also makes the trail easier to read. The google frame is also very thin so I really don’t see any goggle or helmet in my field of vision. The dark less has been perfect on bright sunny DH days. (Haven’t used the clear yet). The design is frameless and the shape looks bigger overall as it is designed to match SMITH helmets. The strap has great ant-slip rubber and is exactly the same width as the helmet recess for easy placement and zero slip. I ran this combo for a few days of DH and had zero fogging or heat build up. Squad + Mainline is a great combo.

I love these goggles. They
I love these goggles. They fit perfectly. There is plenty of ventilation. I ride mostly on wooded trails with lots of shade and it all looks crisp and clear through the ChromaPop lense.
