For me the lens does
For me the lens does not provide satisfactory eye protection from the sun.

Great everyday lens
Not as photochromatic as my red photo lens but still great for carried conditions. It is more blue in color and I wish you couldn’t see your eyes. But other than that it’s all you need. I wear clear on pow days but this is killer 90% of days on the east coast.

Setting the Mood with Colors
After scratching the original Red Mirror that came with my goggles in a crash I bought the replacement lenses in Red Mirror and Black. Both yield similar results but I think the Red allows me to see the contours in the snow slightly better. I use the red on cold days as they make everything look slightly blue, adding to the ambiance of cold winter days in "the White Room". Surveying the scene through the Red Mirror from the precipice of a Black Diamond sets a mood like I'm a big-mountain adventurer even though I shouldn't be allowed on anything beyond the bunny slope. They perfectly and reliably protect my eyes as my confidence becomes horror as I clip the first tree I pass and go spinning out of control. Perhaps Smith could make a model that's super-dark towards the top so I can't see people shaking their heads at me from the lift. The black seems to make things look slightly warmer and they add to the mood on warmer late-season days. All kidding aside, excellent lenses. Pleased with my purchase and would buy again.

Don't Overlook Clear Lenses!
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
As the other reviewer mentioned, the storm yellow lenses are likely the best low light lenses I've ever tried. Although for those on a budget, or do not care for ChromaPop, the clear lens is the way to go. Still gives you great vision on those epic storm days.
