I bought this helmet for my son in laws 50th birthday. He had picked it out at our local ski shop. Backcountry had the BEST price. He is very pleased that he got exactly what he wanted.

Poppy color isn't red.

I ordered the Matte Poppy/Black colored helmet and when I received it, the color was more of a rose or peach color. The color is definitely not a poppy red like it's shown in the photo. I have a red ski jacket that I was hoping to match and the helmet wasn't even close to being red. So I returned it and ate the shipping back to Backcountry. The fit is also definitely more round than the oval it used to be years ago.

I was looking for a new helmet and the Vantage had everything. #1-Ventilation, the Vantage has two separate vent levers and they both have two settings, open, half and closed. So you have lots of different settings for your needs and they are easy to operate. #2-MIPS and Koyroid, safe and light nuff said. #3-Removable ear pads for spring time. Kind of tricky due to BOA wire, but you can get it done. #4 BOA fit dial for perfect size. #5- Mini visor for just enough coverage and perfect fit with Smith goggles. The terra matte color is a little strange, but so am I. Couldn't pass on the great price. Very happy with helmet.

Great helmet with safety features and comfort

Great helmet with lots of safety features. Looks great, fits well, is comfortable and the vents are easy to use and they do a fabulous job regulating temperature.

Too small

Based on Smith's size chart, I should have been on the upper side of a Large helmet. After having read the reviews, I ordered a XL helmet instead. Despite this, the helmet is too small. I'm sure it's a great helmet and I was excited to use it, but Smith has to get the sizing right.

Protection works

I took a pretty big slam to the back of my head on my first ride with this helmet and I’m not brain dead so I’m gonna say it works as advertised. Im actually pretty surprised the helmet is still intact as well. I didn’t feel hot or cold with it, so that’s cool. Style is subjective.

Really disappointed in the overall

Really disappointed in the overall fit. I’ve tried a couple options and need the helmet for an upcoming trip so I will make do.. but the sizing is way way off. XL is entirely too small on the crown but too loose lower down. Disappointed

The Vantage is the best

The Vantage is the best helmet ever. Comfortable, safe, sturdy and reliable. My back story - I crashed in December, basically sliding out and landing with direct impact on the top of my head above my left eye. I was knocked out. Taken to the hospital, CT scan, EKG, the whole assessment. The top of my older Vantage broke off and the interior cellular matrix was crushed and the helmet rim broken. Very serious to say the least. The helmet was totaled but I fortunately was unhurt. I credit the Vantage for doing its job in saving me from serious injury. I immediately ordered another Vantage because of my experience. There was no other choice from my perspective. As a full time ski coach, I highly recommend the Vantage to my clients and, frankly, to anyone who’ll listen!
