Good Alternative to Mainstream Brands
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
- Size Bought:
- Large
- Height:

- Weight:

I’ve now owned this Jacket for almost a year and living in the PNW gives me a unique opportunity to use shells 9 months out of the year in Temps that don’t get below 30F. Sizing- Smaller then America Brands, I’m 5’8 185lbs. Athletic build. I’d preferred they left some space in the waist region for some of us DadBod guys so it isn’t as tight when layering with a 800fill or higher Down jacket. sleeve length is perfect with an arch shape on the ends to slip over your gloves. The Main Zipper when Fully zipped the collar comes up just below the ear lobe without having the hood up. I tested with a bicycle helmet and you can’t fully zip the jacket and have a helmet on. The Two Way zipper does make thing’s convenient when needing to use restroom. Two Pit Zips per side make things easy when you start overheating and gives you ample adjustment points. The Chest Pockets are large and can fit a lot, but are designed for fishing in mind so you lose the pockets. This is a 2.5L and the Inside liner I found doesn’t do a good job releasing Vapor and I can feel the condensation build up when temps are between 48f degrees and warmer which is disappointing. I use the Jacket as my daily jacket to the office or out on the town running errands, to me it is more of an Around the City Jacket, or while fly fishing, I would wear this hiking or cycling.

Alternative to Arc'teryx jackets
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Size Bought:
- L
- Height:
- 5' 11"
- Weight:

This shell jacket is perfect for hiking, backpacking or fishing. Comparing to other Arc'teryx shell jackets I owned. I especially like the two big front pockets, generous soft material around the bottom of the hood. If you're looking for something alternative to the mainstream hard shell brands, I think you should look no further. One thing to keep in mind is that this hood is not huge, likely can't accommodate climbing helmet.
