Recon 2.0 Mountain Bike Shoes
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I bought these shoes a month ago after owning and loving my specialized mtb shoes previously. The shoes are light and easy to get on and off, but I’m disappointed that there is only one twist tightened instead of two. I can’t get the shoes as tight as the need to be. My old shoes had the two of the old fashioned strip and latch tighteners, and I could always get the shoe as tight as i wanted. These new Recons seem like they are not going to be a durable either but they are lighter.

Too soft.

The shoes are looking great, comfortable, easy to walk in, have a good grip to surface, but they are too flexible and soft fir an effective power transfer. Will use them fir a recovery and social rides.

Comfort & Style
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Shoes are comfortable & light. Replacing a pair of Shimano's and it's been a while since I wore specialized shoes - I had always liked their comfort but had a few disappointments with durability. So far happy with the comfort of these, and based on the last few pairs of other brands, it seems durability may not be so different. I've struggled to find my right size over the years - it seems shoe sizes have gotten smaller, and I appreciate these had half size increments. These had a little less room in the toe box than I'd hoped for but size seems about right - compared to my previous shoes, the toe box seems to be stiffer so I probably can't rely on stretching. I use Time ATAC pedals, and the cleats are pretty protected by the sole lugs which is nice when walking around

Decent shoes!

I measured my foot 100 times and used the Specialized fit guide and the sizing was right. I'm an 11 in Nike and ended up with a 44.5. Super comfy shoes. Easy to walk in the forefoot bends nicely. The Boa adjusts back and forth which is nice. Only slight negative is that it isn't a carbon sole so if you do stomp on the pedals you can feel the shoes flex. But, that is as described. I was wearing all carbon shoes prior so it was a little surprising. May go to the Recon 3.0 eventually but for now these are nice and comfy.
