It Checks the Boxes, But…
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I’ve had this helmet for almost 3 months, and I’m a rider that is on the bike 6-8 hours per week. It’s mostly on the road, but I’m happy if I can find some good gravel bike friendly dirt. What I like about It is that it looks like a “normal” helmet, and doesn’t get too crazy with optimizing for aerodynamics. My head stays cool on warmer days. And I really appreciate the holder for my sunglasses. The newer MIPS protection, where the shell has more freedom to move, is a nice update, and I think makes for improved safety. BUT… the one thing I haven’t been happy about is that with the improved freedom to move, you hear the MIPS pieces rubbing against each other a fair bit since it’s all happening inches from your ears. I think I’ve finally been able to tune out that sound, but it’s taken me some time. TLDR; If you’re looking for a non-aero helmet without good coverage, keeps you cool, lets you easily stash your glasses, and has some improved safety tech. This is a good choice. But if you really don’t like to be distracted by the sound of the MIPS components rubbing against each other, you may want to look elsewhere.
