Why We Like The SRAM Maven Ultimate Disc Brake
Whether we are on a heavy downhill bike, an E-Bike, are a heavier rider, or just what the most power available for the steepest most aggressive riding, the SRAM Maven brakes are for us. The Maven Ultimate Disc Brake is SRAM's most powerful brake they have ever made, and feature oversized pistons and pads to give us maximum stopping power. The pistons and brake pad are bigger than SRAM's Code brake, giving the Maven 50% more power under the same lever force. The Maven caliper has greater thermal mass than other SRAM calipers, which means they resist power-scrubbing heat build up, and maintain an optimal working temperature for longer for a consistent brake feel on steep, technical descents. The four-bolt design on the side of the caliper makes for a stiffer caliper when under extreme braking forces, reducing power loss and making for a more solid feel. SRAM took their new technology from the DB8 and the recently improved Code brakes and combined them to produce the Maven brake. The Maven uses mineral oil for less maintenance and better performance, and the Stealth technology improves the lever construction and makes for a cleaner look with tidier cable routing. The Maven features a pad contact adjustment wheel at the lever so we can get the perfect bite pint, and the tool-free reach adjustment ensures our lever is always in the ideal position.

I've been running these brakes for over 300 miles now and they feel as powerful and responsive as day 1. They are truly confidence-inspiring, which says a lot compared to some of the other lines of Sram brakes. I have never felt I've had to pull them to the bar for them to bite and after a long descent with heavy braking zones, there is little if any fade at all, they are incredibly consistent in any temp and on any decent. I was running 220/200 rotors previously but have been able to size down to 200/180 and still feel that I have more braking power. For any enduro/DH/aggressive trail rig where you are looking for all the power you can get, I'd highly recommend these, they are game changers.

The ultimate stopping power
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
The amount of power from these is unreal. I sized down my front rotor size (recommended by Sram) and I’m still amazed at the feel and strength. Can’t wait to really put them through the test this summer.
