The colorway title, "falcon grey," calls to mind the swift and precise dive of a peregrine, which is appropriate since the SRAM Red Chainring's improved shift timing pins and ramps increase shifting speed and precision when integrated with the Yaw-caged SRAM Red front derailleur and chain. SRAM engineers borrowed design components from the X-Glide drivetrain technology found in their top-end XX mountain group to create a road version, X-GlideR.

The new SRAM Red Chainring is also stiffer, thanks to precise machining of the 5mm 7075-T6 aluminum, which improves power transfer and facilitates faster, quieter, and more precise shifting than comparable chainrings.
