Why We Like The Grimnir 2Vi MIPS Helmet

We like the GRimnir 2Vi MIPS Helmet because it doesn't pack on excess weight to keep our heads safe. Exactly what you’d expect for the price

Bought the natural carbon version size l/xl as a replacement for my smith nexus. As nice and safe of a helmet the nexus is, it was heavy, ran big, and aesthetically made me look like a light bulb with the physical size. I bought this in hopes of something lighter and lower profile and it excelled in that aspect. It does run a little small as some reviews explain but being in the smaller side of a l/xl size it fit me like a glove and is by far the most comfortable helmet I’ve worn. I was worried about the ventilation as it doesn’t have nearly as much as the smith nexus and I run hot but it vented any hot air just as good as the nexus surprisingly. Overall a 10/10 high end top off line helmet that’s super comfortable and truly justifies the high price tag.

Wrong sizing

I only write this to emphasize the other reviews. I went off the sizing chart as well my hat size has always been 7 3/8 which falls in the M/L category. To backcountry’s defense it says runs small size up. I unfortunately had to return the item because it doesn’t fit way too small. Helmet looks great sad to send it back. Definitely size up

Mostly good. I’ve bopped myself a few times with this on, and I’ve dropped it onto the pavement in the parking lot by accident 2 or 3 times, and it shows no signs of damage. The vents are nice to get some extra circulation and cool things down a bit. The ear flaps are a bit too tight, I have speakers in my flaps and they tend to start chafing my ears after more than 2 hours, so I have to fiddle with the flaps a bit to get them in a position that doesn’t hurt. The boa on the back is a bit flimsy, and it doesn’t hold as reliably as I would like. Overall I’m happy with this helmet, but it could be improved with a few tweaks.

Sizing is rubbish

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it

Measured the circumference of my head twice, ordered based on information provided with 2 cm to spare. Of course it is too tight. International shipping cost $100. To return and get an exchange will require me to pay a total of $300 in shipping alone, wiping out any savings from the sale price. 4 different Backcountry customer “service” officers giving me the same unhelpful “advice”. I have been a Backcountry customer since they started but I have had it. I am done. Taking the tens of thousands I spend on outdoors equipment every year, elsewhere.

Misleading and horrible customer service

Misleading description! Size guide is way off!!!! I have been using a ski helmet for 20 years (same size in all that time). My head size has not changed. My hair is high and tight. I used the size guide provided by sweet protection in order to purchase their helmet. Well just received my helmet. Sorry to say it fits my 13 year old daughter but not me. Not even close!!! Emailed customer service (if you can call it that). They will NOT make this right. They will not exchange the helmet. They will not accept a return either. I will never make the mistake of purchasing another Sweet Protection product ever again! Waste of money! Hat size 7 1/4 or 22 5/8 which is right in the middle of the size purchased.

Super light

Size Bought:
L-XL
Weight:

Nice helmet . The magnetic chin buckles works great. The ear pads are comfortable and have space for audio if you’re into that. The lack of a brim is important to me because I like to pop my goggles up when I’m in line if it’s not to sunny. The adjuster for fit works well . I have Anon M4 goggles and there is no gap. Usually I wear a large but these helmets run a little small so I ordered the L-XL and it fits perfectly with a balaclava. The lack of a huge logo on it is also nice. Didn’t get a goat sticker but I can’t really knock off a star for that.
