Sizing runs small for athletic build

I ordered a size Small. I will be exchanging for a Medium. I am 32 years old, 5'6", 124lbs, a runner, cyclist, XC skier - amongst many other sports. I am very lean, but have strong legs and a butt. I followed the sizing guide and they recommended a small. Tried them on, they would do the job if I was standing still, but pant does not have a ton of elasticity/stretch so decided to get next size up.
