Unbelievably Light and Rigid
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Size Bought:
- 27.5
You honestly can't believe how light these boots are. And the flex is unbelievable. When walking around they feel like slightly rigid hiking boots. The ease of buckling in is a wonderful asset in the backcountry. The hike mode on these is also so easy its crazy. They fit slightly more snugly than Cochise. The next size up was too big, so I'm just working them in and they'll be fine. Structurally, they aren't lift service boots, but for a backcountry dedicated boot they are excellent. Most rigid fully backcountry boot I've seen. Don't compare these to a front-country boot or even a hybrid. But for a dedicated touring boot, they perform wonderfully on the way down. I saw one video where they say that they are hard to get into. Not in my experience at all. My foot pops right in. Note that these are about 18mm shorter than other Technica boots of the same foot size. So you'll likely have to redrill your bindings. I had plenty of space to do that, but if you've already drilled your skis twice, you might want to consider that. I have Voile V6 BC with Fritschi Tecton bindings. With these boots, it's the absolute dream setup for Vermont's rolling hills and long up and downy Green mountain tours.
