THE climbing shoe for me
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
- Size Bought:
- 9.5
- Weight:
- 185
I started climbing 5 years ago at 47 years old. My first pair of shoes were Tarantulas. When those wore, I stumbled across a pair of Verticks, which I believe was the predecessor of the Tenaya Tanta. Those were a big improvement over the Tarantulas. My next pair was the Tenaya Inti. Sized 1/2 size smaller than my street shoe, they were great right out of the box. They are very comfortable and the sensitivity was a game changer for me. It's made it hard to use anything else. While the Intis were getting resoled, I tried Evolv Supras and the Tenaya Masai. Both of those are touted for their edging power. That may be true, but they felt like climbing in ski boots, especially the Supras. I found it hard to trust my feet when I couldn't feel the edges. I've tried on lots of other shoes from all the players, but nothing has the sensitivity of the Inti. As an analogy, It's like trail running in a minimalist shoe - my favorite is the Altra Superior 4 -versus a beefy trail runner. If that sounds like your cup of tea, try the Inti. I'm now on my second pair.

Solid intermediate shoe
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
Great shoe if you want to get something with more quality then a standard beginner shoe. Half a size down from my street shoe size was a tight performance fit for me.
