Wish I had tried these sooner

I've been a big Terra Fi guy for many years, but sometimes want something lighter for camp shoes or water crossings when backpacking, or when packing for a flight. I finally tried the Hurricane, and it's great! The arch feels maybe a tiny bit lower, but otherwise they do everything I need and are noticeably lighter than the Terra Fi. I also like the textured footbed and the lower price.

good alternative to Chacos
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer

These were quite a bit less pricey than a new pair of Chacos so I gave them a shot. I miss the tension/buckle system on my old Chacos compared to the Velcro on these but otherwise, the Tevas have been great.

Not comfortable, run a bit small

Plastic triangle pieces that connect webbing parts can make the whole thing uncomfortable. In my case it pushes against pinkie on the right foot. Not bad enough that I cannot wear sandals at all, but noticeable enough that it gets annoying after a while. It also runs small. I usually wear 11 - 11.5. Tried 12, and it was way too big. Got size 11, and realized after a couple of hours that it is a bit too small.

Best hiking sandals

I’ve had my share of hiking sandals but none felt like sandals, just heavy vented shoes. I think my problem was buying hiking sandals from hiking shoe companies and not looking at sandal companies for hiking sandals. My last pair (Keen), trapped rocks in the sandals, the sandals was so difficult to put on that I would suffer with the rocks under my foot rather than try to remove the sandals and put them back on. Most of my sandals have last 2-3 hikes before I gave up on them. Not this Teva. I’ve worn the Hurricane XLT2 Teva on 4 hikes already and I’ve had zero issues. They feel like sandals and the sole has plenty of support and protection from the terrain. I’ve yet to stub my toe which was a big concern. I’m in between sizes so got a size above per recommendation. When I got the sandals I was really worried it was too big but with three adjustable straps, it was never an issue. I slid my foot as far forward as possible and strapped down the heel strap so my foot wouldn’t slide and it hasn’t. Another concern was the plastic triangle holding the straps was hitting a knuckle when I tried it on. But once on the trail it wasn’t an issue and I totally forgot about it. I’m really happy with this purchase. I had been looking at this sandals for some time but they always sold out. If this one ever ware out, I’ll purchase the exact same one. No more shopping around.

Well I?ve had many outdoor sandals but never a Teva I think I see why these are so popular. All the straps secure your foot in a customized way. I have a very wide foot so I bought a 12. I wear an 11 but these straps have made this for like a glove. The sole is tough and thick. I could definitely spend hours in the river and not feel the bottom. I have to say the construction is impressive. Simple but very secure.
