First Turn Down Jacket delivers warmth, waterproof protection, and versatility for winter adventures

What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:

"This jacket is my go-to for cold, stormy days on the mountain. The combination of down and synthetic insulation keeps me warm, while the DryVent™ fabric handles anything the weather throws my way."

When powder days call our name, the The North Face First Turn Down Jacket keeps us warm, dry, and ready to explore. Packed with 550-fill goose down in the body and Heatseeker™ Eco synthetic insulation in the hood and high-exposure areas, this jacket delivers reliable warmth in frigid conditions. The waterproof DryVent™ fabric shields us from snowfall and light moisture, while thoughtful details like underarm vents, an adjustable helmet-compatible hood, and a snap-down powder skirt ensure we stay comfortable and focused on carving fresh lines. With pockets for goggles, lift tickets, and essentials, this jacket blends performance, comfort, and thoughtful design for every winter outing—whether we’re riding lifts or breaking trail in the backcountry.

THE powder puffy

Wow, this is the piece I was missing in my winter wardrobe! I love a good shell/vest pufy combo for powder (the North Face Terra Peak Vest with a Smartwool Classic Thermal Merino Crew Baselayer under a shell is my jam) But I have to thank this jacket for the extra time I spend on the slopes on those extremely cold days; I no longer need to warm up every few runs. (Talk about a first world problem) That, paired with the Swany Legend/Supreme ladies' mitts, has taken me to the next level of comfort when I am resort riding in cold conditions. I went for a size M to have extra room, and it's still so flattering. I usually wear M in Patagonia as well! The North Face knows how to combine style, comfort, and performance in one, to say the least.

Excellent

Superwarm. Fits as expected. Only improvement would be an upgraded zipper.

Would reccomend!

This is a great jacket for skiing! Warm without making you overheat, and not too puffy so very moveable.

I would switch to another style and type in buying a down

It runs small so a large is closer to a medium. The material is not as soft or as flexible as I had expected. Otherwise, it is warm and cute.
