Good, but not perfect.
This is a fine pair of convertible pants. The fabric is exceptional as it is a polyester weave that does a good job of defeating a light wind. And the fabric has elastane, which allows the pants to work (stretch) with your body motions - VERY nice. But there is one minor drawback and one major drawback: Minor drawback: even the regular-sized pants have a "high rise", so if your natural waist is low on your hips, the pant crotch is lower still, and can hinder your range of leg motion if you are doing challenging hiking or climbing. MAJOR drawback: the belt is a piece of junk. It has an open hook fastener so it does not stay hooked to the other end of the belt, and the length adjustment mechanism does not hold securely, so the belt is always elongating on it's own. For all of North Face's expertise, I am surprised how badly they whiffed on something as simple as a belt and buckle. Worst still, I have had other hiking pants where I could fashion a better belt with nylon web and some plastic snap fasteners but this belt is enclose almost 90% around the waist circumference, making passing a new belt through almost impossible. IT makes me wonder if anyone from NF actually field tested these pants.

Horrible
The belt always loosen up and my underwear I will show. The pants are too short. Do not worth this price.

Yes I would buy again and recommend to a friend
I utilize these shorts for both casual wear and hiking, and they complement my North Face coats well. Additionally, their versatility in transforming into shorts is highly convenient.
