Cowboy camping and cowboy coffee, all in the Space Cowboy.

Cowboy camping is an art, and whether you're sleeping out by a cactus or in a grove of pine trees, you need something to keep you warm. Bring along the Therm-a-Rest 45-Degree Synthetic Space Cowboy Sleeping Bag to stay toasty through the summer months. Therm-a-Rest zoned the eraLoft insulation so that it maximizes warmth, with 65% of the insulation in the top of the bag, and used water-resistant fill that won't lose its insulating properties if you happen to get the bag damp. SynergyLink Connectors ensure your bag stays put on your pad, reducing the need for back-of-bag insulation, and shaving ounces off in case you decide to take it backpacking. For further weight-reduction, the Space Cowboy replaced some additional insulation with a ThermaCapture lining to reflect your body heat as you sleep. When you're enjoying your coffee from the comfort of your sleeping bag—and inevitably spill—the liquid will roll off thanks to the DWR treatment that makes it easy to clean it off and go on with your trip.

Good bag, poor longevity

I have to preface that I may have just gotten an old bag- when it arrived from the resaler (Ultralight Olllutdoor UK) it didn't exactly exude the loft afforded to it by the reviews and so forth. It lasted me well on a month long backpacking trip in summer. Warm enough and very packable and light. Would I use it again? Entirely certain I would. That being said, it doesn't last long in storage. Whilst waiting for the next summer (now) for around eight months, it lost all its loft. It's been stored in a dry box uncompressed with silica to absorb moisture, so I'm unsure about why it lost its puff- not happened to me before, not with down or synthetic, and it's refusing to show me any consideration and loft up again for me (my arms are honestly exhausted after two days of fluffing and beating it!) Anyway, great bag, but be careful about storing it. It'll handle water and wind like a champ in the field but it won't be happy being kept in storage.

Good bag but.. for me..

First, let me start off by saying this is personal preference review and not a negative one. There’s only one true flaw. I went back and forth on a bag vs quilt for a while, I wanted something small and lightweight. Obviously, I landed on a bag. I’ve had this for two years now and have used it several times. The bag itself is super light, packs quite small, and has a great look to it. I went purple. I’m familiar with the synergy straps, as my first Thermarest was the Antares 20, ~8 years ago. These however basically ripped off first use, not overly concerned i continued my trip. By day two, they were completely frayed and torn apart. I know I move in my sleep, but I don’t think I sleep like a monster! It is what it is… I still use the bag, actually I just used it for week long car camping trip. My biggest gripe with it. And again, this is purely personal preference. Is the zipper doesn’t go past your knee, understanding we’re saving weight but it’s a flaw imo. It’s frustratingly annoying when you want to kick your feet out and can’t. The rest of the bag?…. It’s a good bag. Like I said, it’s light, packable, looks good, pretty comfortable but I chose the wrong sleeping bag for myself. That’s all! I recommend this bag, but I really recommend the brand. The whole brand of Cascade. Not the best review, but maybe it helps.

Great for summer backpacking in New Hampshire!

Packs down and performs well in wet environments I took it on a 5 day backpacking trip in NH and it was awesome!

Lightweight and comfortable

This is the perfect bag for an overnight or an extended weekend trip. Fits nicely with plenty of room. Compresses surprisingly well. Great choice.

Good for travel and warm weather backpacking

Really light and packs down quite small. Fits my NeoAir XLite sleeping pad perfectly. I didn't try it in really cold weather, but it was fine for temperatures in the 50's and 60's. I would have preferred a bag without the hood, but overall am really pleased with it.

Perfect & lightweight for a long distance backpacking

It was an excellent lightweight sleeping bag and I use it for long distance backpacking travel. Had a comfort night sleep at temperature of 3 Celsius in Winter. I was just a little bit disappointed because the Synergy Link connectors doesn't fit to my ""Trail scout"" sleeping pad that's it all.

Light that?s about it NOT 45 degrees

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Light weight, zip only goes half way super annoying, rates for 45 degrees I was cold in a shelter at 52 degrees. Great for summer not for spring or a cold summer night.

I somewhat like it

So to preface this I do use this sleeping bag and I do like it... but I have some thoughts. If it came with a compression sack it would take up virtually no room; I know people have mixed emotions about them but its what I expect from Therm-a-Rest at this point. Next the material feels a little strange on my skin but that's more of a me problem than a Therm-a-Rest problem because I see no other mention of it. This is my best warm weather bag, but I just don't entirely like it. All my other Therm-a-Rest products are wonderful, but this bag is just slightly underwhelming.

Great Base

I have used this bag a few times and have been pleased. I think it is a great start for layering with other liners or camping blankets to push against colder conditions. Which is where most of the stars come from. The materials are so thin I am concerned about durability. Though in the few times I've used it there has been no issues. It is staggeringly light. I wish the zipper was a little longer and that the loops for the pad were a touch wider.

I would recommend it for warm climates .

Probably great for most people, I am always cold. Thought I would try it. Turned out that a 50degree night required me to wrap up in another sleeping bag over this one. Works more like a sheet on a warm night...which is what it's intended for. I returned it for a warmer bag. I would buy it again if I was in a warmer climate.
