Outlander 9L Hydration Pack
A slim, solid option for race day, the Outlander 9L Hydration Pack from USWE offers nine liters of storage capacity for your hydration and gear in a bounce-free design. This pack comes ready to roll with a reversible 3-liter Elite hydration bladder that's dishwasher safe for easy cleaning, and capable of holding liquids as hot as 140-degrees Fahrenheit, should you need a warm-up on a frosty ride.
Perhaps the most notable feature of USWE's Outlander is its unique retention system. In lieu of the typical straps we see on most packs, USWE employs the NDM (short for No Dancing Monkey) Race Suspension Harness. The harness consists of four stretchy elastic straps that are adjustable to fit a variety of riders. The straps secure in the center of the chest, creating a totally bounce-free fit, even when fully loaded, without hindering breathing or range of motion.

Versatile Pack

I picked up a USWE Outlander 3 at a LBS after trying it on. I wasn't sure how the No Dancing Monkey straps would work out for a smaller guy, but found them quite simple to adjust, and both comfortable and stable. Not sure how this would apply for a female with a more ample chest, as it wasn't a great fit for my wife. Bottom line, the unique straps system works well for me, although it's not anthing revolutionary, and may not be ideal for everyone. The 3L version is just too small for many of my rides, and while great for short mild temp rides, it just didn't have the room for enough water or any extra layers beyond a very compact wind shell along with my tools. This 9L version has adequate capacity for most of my rides, with a 3L bladder, and room for tools and a first aid kit, along with a modest number of layers. There is also a small phone pocket that could also fit some snacks. The only thing to keep in mind with USWE is that the volume capacity includes the bladder, so size up compared to an Osprey or CamelBak. This 9L pack holds about the same amount of water and stuff that my Osprey Viper 3 held. Finally kudos to USWE for including some bright colors in their selection. I am almost exclusively a mountain biker, but often have to hop on a road during a ride. The orange is also a nice choice when riding during hunting season. Not getting shot or run over takes precednce over wearing a more fashionable muted shade, although they offer basic black for those who prefer to ride stealth.

The perfect Pack!

Seriously, I am a huge fan of this pack. I have been riding longer and longer rides, to where I mount (2) 1L bottles and (1) 600ml bottle and that wasn't enough. Add this USWE pack and I added 2 L more fluid to my rides. I could put 3L in the pack, but 2 lets me have plenty of storage for a first aid kit, Gilet, Jacket, tools, my inreach and more then enough nutrition for my 100 mile gravel adventures. the added bonus is the hydro pack spout for quick sips without reaching for a bottle.

Fits good
The pack its self is very nice really light and doesn’t move around. The only complaint I have is on the water pack where the hose goes in, doesn’t stay in it, it likes to pop out very easy and the water fills up inside. Wish there was a better connection for it.

Amazing bag!
I can’t believe people ride without this bag! It holds a lot of water, more than enough for a full day out on the trails. It has a phone pocket, tool loops inside, and still space for snacks while you’re out. The best part about this bag is that it truly doesn’t move! It stays secure to your chest while hitting jumps and doesn’t bounce around on trails in anyway. Highly recommend this to any rider.
