Too much weight on the upper back
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
The pack sits high on the back, which is a problem if you like to extend your torso forward on the bike in a typical road position. It's a lot of weight in a bad spot. Regular backpacks sit low on the back.

Stable, comfortable & works as promise

The pack is light and unobtrusive. It sits very stable with no shifting or bouncing even on very rough washboard. I wish it had adjustability on the shoulder straps as it does tend to slip down slightly. I remedied that by sewing the straps and it sits nicely now. However, the chest straps are adjustable and have elastic built-in making them very comfortable and won't restrict your breathing. It does make your upper back sweat but I because it sits so high on your back you really don't notice it. I have only ridden in temps around 80 and in the sun but once you're riding, you hardly notice it's there. The nice thing is it’s much easier to hydrate while riding, especially on roads that require hands on the bar. I find I drink more often too. I can eliminate the need for just about 3, 24 oz (the pack holds 70) water bottles which is quite a savings in watts due to drag and its pretty much the same weight as the 3 bottles (~300 grams). In recent aero tests by Dylan Johnson and Silca, the pack actually saved a few watts as well. The hydration bladder is great, it's very easy to fill and cleaning is super easy as you can turn it inside out to clean and dry. The bite valve works flawlessly, providing a high flow. Overall, it’s a great pack.
