Vasque Torre AT GTX Hiking Boot

Familiarity:
I've used it several times
Size Bought:
9 M

I bought this hiking boot one month ago. I've been one difficult and one moderate hike. Both trails were wet. The Vasque Waterproof Torre AT GTX Boot performed excellent. Traction grip was awesome, boot was light and comfortable with no links. This boot is ready for action and the midnight blue color looks fantastic. Can't wait to hit the trails again.

Lightweight and comfortable

I use these boots in the Davis Mountains of west Texas. Lots of loose, sharp rock and bushes with long thorns. The soles are stiff enough to protect your feet during a long hike and give good traction. No thorns have penetrated yet. Lightweight.

PIXIE feet width with tunder calfs..

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Nope def not for me. IF you have feet that at super thin and calfs that are robust an can handle weights and cosntant pressure, and thin/slippery sox these might be good. if not........... they are a pain to put on , almost impossible to get off without slamming ur other foot on the back of them whcih always does wonder for bootslongevity,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,!~) the tongue as mentioned is cumbersome and the lacing system is **appaling** what a waste of money~!! im stuck with them ,so i will try and stretch them out. thin , heavy . plodders sooooo peeeved. a present for my 25 kilo ballerina friend with runbing back calfs are in thier future.........................

Super awesome hiking boots

I bought these on a whim from the outdoor store in Leadville CO 1 day prior to a planned hike up Mt Elbert. I had planned on using my Vasque Sundowners despite those boots being about 1/2 size too small (size 11.5). My buddy did not have adequate footwear for the trail conditions and wears size 11.5 so I gave him the sundowners to wear and I bought these. They were great right out of the box! Normally I would not do a brand new boot for a hike like that but didn’t really have a choice. I had no issues with foot pain or blisters. However, my buddy developed a huge heel blister with the Sundowners. I ended up switching boots with him about 4-5 miles in and he was able to make it to the Summit and back with no further issues. I finished out the day in the sundowners without any issues but the Torres definitely felt better. Could be a size thing but if you are on the fence between Sundowners and Torres for any reason, I’d go with Torre. They are light and comfortable and the vibram outsole provides great traction.

Really Great

Very pleased with hiking boots purchased at Red Wing in Mississauga! Went looking for fishing rod dropped overboard in Lake Koocanusa last summer. In the Fall the water drains back in the reservoir. Hiked in from the Elk River and went through several small streams and rocky patches to the approximate location. Was about to give up when I saw some deer tracks and some bear tracks. Started looking at the bear tracks and low and behold the bear stepped right on the rod buried in the mud. Should have taken a pictures of it with bear paw print but was too excited to have found the rod. Went to clean the rod in the river. Boots kept my feet dry but the jeans were wet for a bit. All cleaned up nice when I got home. Next time out hiking, I will remember to bring bear spray.

Painful tongue and lacing hooks

I really wanted to like these boots. They're everything I was looking for in a backpacking boot: leather upper, Gore-Tex, full one-piece rand, amply cushioned midsole, Vibram outsole, light weight, solid construction, and awesome styling. What killed it for me is the tongue, collar, and placement of the lacing hooks. The tongue is not very wide or well cushioned, and there is a stiff seam that lands right on the inside/front of the ankle bone (medial malleolus). The lacing hooks are spaced too close to the front of the collar, and are too close together when laced, which forces the tongue inward and causes more pressure on that bone. Unfortunately, the boots were too painful when properly laced, and I had to return them. Vasque: widen the tongue and add more padding, place the 2nd set of lacing hooks further back, and the 3rd set of lacing hooks even further back, and you might have a winning boot.
