Colorado Groomers and Backcountry
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Size Bought:
- 182
- Weight:

The Weston Alpenglow skis are an absolute blast. Colorado groomers were perfect for them as the edges gripped really well for carving big, smooth turns, letting me channel my high school ski racer days, ha. They were just as fun for quick, tight turns, making them super versatile. By midday, when things got chopped up, the rockered nose really came in clutch, keeping the ride smooth and stable. At 6 feet tall and 155 pounds, the 182s felt just right for me, offering a good balance of control and playfulness. As a backcountry skier, I’m excited to see how they handle touring. While I haven’t taken them out on a backcountry adventure yet, their lightweight design and rockered nose seem ideal for laying a solid uphill track.

Killer front side ripper

This ski is a bit heavier than I would want for a touring ski of its width, personally, (it does come in a bit heavier than advertised, but not enough to complain about) but Holy cow does this thing rip on groomers. The longer turning radius inspires fast, long turns, and while it may not be light enough for touring, it is substantially lighter than the vast majority of resort oriented skis on the market. That inspires playful style in the middle of hard charging lines which is absolutely my happy place. They are also surprisingly capable when snow gets softer too, due to a surprisingly large early rise in the front end. They don't submarine in soft snow or when you hit a less dense patch of groomer snow. I will be spending a lot more time on these this winter.

Steep, narrow couloir slayer

I take this ski on my long slogs, my type-3-fun tours. The narrower waist makes it skin like a nordic ski, smooth and fast. I like the stiff and skinny skis for steep crusty couloirs which require lots of edging and jump turns. It’s light and agile but doesn’t sacrifice performance when you push it in mediocre conditions. I’ve also had a blast carving turns on it during the early season resort groomer days.
