Why We Like The Weston Skyline Carbon Ski
Built for long tours and demanding descents, the Weston Skyline Carbon Skis are engineered to perform in variable terrain without weighing you down. The 95mm waist and freeride camber-dominant profile deliver the perfect combination of edge hold, snap, and float for navigating steeps and mixed conditions. The lightweight paulownia and carbon construction keeps things agile on the ascent, while the horizontal aluminum stringers add a damp feel similar to full-metal skis. At just 1500g in the 176cm length, the Skyline makes those long uphill pushes feel effortless, while giving you the control and reliability needed on the way back down.

Perfect to ski in the backcountry
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times

I was thoroughly impressed with the performance of the 176cm skis and Weston skins in the backcountry, even in extreme conditions with frigid temperatures and high winds. The skins held strong over approximately 2,500 vertical feet and four laps of repeated application and removal. Despite the blowing snow, the glue remained flawless, maintaining excellent adhesion to both the skis and the snow. They also provided smooth glide on the skin track, which was a huge plus. As expected from Weston, the skis were reliable and an absolute joy to ride. They handled beautifully, whether navigating tight tree lines or carving through open bowls. Their lightweight design made them especially nimble, and I’m excited to bring them on an upcoming hut trip. I’ll share more after that adventure! For reference, I’m 6 feet tall and 155 pounds. While the 176cm skis worked great, I feel like the 184cm version would’ve been equally suitable.

My go-to spring touring ski
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
- Size Bought:

I use this ski predominantly as my late-winter/spring touring/mountaineering ski. I normally ski it with a ScarpaF1 boot. I like the balance between stiffness/stability and weight. In CO we also often have powder days through May and I find that it’s shape adapts well to all conditions corn —> powder. I’m fortunate to be able to ski all of the different models of Weston skis, and this one is becoming my favorite in the lineup due to its versatility and its ability to perform in a variety of snow conditions. I have skied some fairly big lines on this ski in variable conditions and would do it again.

I got this ski over a season ago, and since then I haven't reached for another pair of skis. Whether you're in the deep or skiing spring corn, this ski tackles it all with ease. They're light enough to tuck way back into the woods on a long approach and strong enough to rip on steep, technical terrain. Snappy enough to make quick and efficient hop turns, and stable enough to straightline steeps. Truly a do it all ski, I can't speak highly enough of the construction.
