Why We Like The Yeti SB165 T3 X0 Transmission Carbon Wheel Mountain Bike
Yeti is back with their enduro/gravity bike, the SB165, and we couldn't be more stoked. With a mixed-wheel setup, revised Switch Infinity platform, and enhanced downtube clearance and protection, the new SB165 platform brings welcome changes that aid in more capability. Yeti's Switch Infinity suspension system has been updated this year for all T-series models, receiving newly designed pivots, improved seals, Enduro MAX bearings, and better hardware for enhanced durability and strength. The mixed-wheel SB165 is fitted with a 170mm fork, which is a 10mm decrease over the previous model, allowing us to keep the geometry the same while reaping the benefits of a larger wheel up front. With 165mm of coil-sprung Switch Infinity suspension and low, slack geometry, the SB165 throws down massive traction on high-speed descents and instills confidence in the sketchiest lines. The steep 76.9-degree seat tube angle gives us an efficient, forward-biased pedaling position so we can make it back to the top for another lap, while the slack 63.5-degree head tube, 29-inch front wheel, and long wheelbase give us all the confidence we need for steep trails and aggressive riding. The 27.5-inch rear wheel and short, size-specific chainstays ensure extra clearance, more agility, and faster turning, and a shorter seat tube allows room for modern long-stroke dropper posts for larger riders. The SB165 features a slightly more linear progression curve, giving us more support through the mid-stroke while ramping up things at the end of travel for bottom-out support. Additional features on the SB165 include fully enclosed cable routing for a silent, clean-looking ride, a threaded bottom bracket for easy maintenance, SRAM's Universal Derailleur Hanger for easy replacements, and integrated ISCG-05 mounts with an included bash guard to protect the downtube and chainring.
The T3 X0 Transmission Carbon Wheel build of the Yeti SB165 premium drivetrain components and upgraded carbon wheels take our performance to the next level. Starting out, the TURQ carbon fiber frame is Yeti's best they offer and is made with premium materials and tested to downhill specification to ensure a super durable, stiff, and lightweight frame. Next, the SRAM X0 Transmission AXS drivetrain equips us with precise electronic shifting and a near-bombproof design for a better shifting experience and trail performance. The Fox Factory 38, 170mm fork, and the Factory DHX2 coil shock pair together to bring us top-tier suspension performance capable of handling anything that stands in its way, while the SRAM Code RSC 4-piston brakes ensure tons of stopping power on tap. This build is topped off with DT Swiss EXC1501 carbon rims outfitted with premium Maxxis enduro tires, and DT Swiss 240 hubs ensure premium performance and grip all over the mountain.
*Due to a high demand in the global supply chain and bike industry since the start of the pandemic, material weight and exact components are subject to change. We are working diligently to keep tech specs updated, and any adjustments will be of equal or better spec level.
