Why We Like The Yeti SB165 T3 X0 Transmission Mountain Bike
Redesigned to shred even harder, Yeti's heavy-duty enduro/gravity slayer, the SB165, is back. Featuring a dedicated mixed-wheel setup, a revised Switch Infinity platform, and enhanced downtube clearance and protection, the new SB165 platform brings us much-anticipated changes. The renowned Switch Infinity system got a makeover this year, receiving newly designed pivots and improved seals, bearings, and hardware for enhanced durability and strength. The mixed wheel SB165 is fitted with a 170mm fork—a 10mm decrease over the previous model—allowing us to keep the geometry the same while reaping the benefits of a larger wheel up front. With 165mm of coil shock-equipped Switch Infinity suspension and low-slung geometry, the SB165 erases mistakes and instills confidence in the most technical downhill sections. The steep 76.9-degree seat tube angle gives us a forward-biased pedaling position and an efficient climbing enduro bike. Although the SB165 will excel all over the mountain, this bike lives for the rowdiest descents and biggest jumps we can muster up. The slack 63.5-degree head tube, 29-inch front wheel, and long wheelbase give us all the confidence we need for steep trails and aggressive riding, while the 27.5-inch rear wheel and short, size-specific chainstays ensure extra clearance, more agility, and faster turning. A shorter seat tube allows room for modern long-stroke dropper posts, the threaded bottom bracket ensures easy maintenance, and the SRAM Universal Derailleur Hanger makes it easy to find replacements. The SB165 features an updated 22% progressivity rate, providing a super plush yet balanced ride with enhanced bottom-out resistance for sending those steep trails and drops without worry. Additional features on the SB165 include fully enclosed cable routing for a silent, clean-looking ride and integrated ISCG-05 mounts with an included bash guard to protect the downtube and chainring.
The T3 X0 Transmission build of the Yeti SB165 is outfitted with some of the best components on the market. The TURQ carbon fiber frame is the best Yeti offers: it's made with premium materials and tested to downhill specification, ensuring a super durable, stiff, and lightweight frame. Next, the SRAM X0 Transmission AXS drivetrain equips us with precise electronic shifting and a near-bombproof design for a better shifting experience and trail performance. The Fox Factory 38, 170mm fork, and the Factory DHX2 coil shock pair together to bring us top-tier suspension performance capable of handling anything that stands in its way, while the SRAM Code RSC 4-piston brakes ensure tons of stopping power on tap. This build is topped off with DT Swiss EX1700 wheels outfitted with premium Maxxis enduro tire, and DT Swiss 350 hubs to ensure quality performance and grip all over the mountain.
*Due to a high demand in the global supply chain and bike industry since the start of the pandemic, material weight and exact components are subject to change. We are working diligently to keep tech specs updated, and any adjustments will be of equal or better spec level.
