It’s a drain plug.
We bought as a replacement ~ lost ours somehow on a trip. They REALLY should attach to the coolers or have a place to slot them elsewhere while you’re draining and cleaning coolers out - given the price we all pay for Yeti products and their claim of being over engineered ;)

Perfect fit and fast service. I can only suggest improving the plug with a lanyard or something that will keep it from getting lost

They plug the hole.
It would be nice if they came with a safety ring so they don't get lost. Other than that, they plug the hole.

Good replacement for the incorrect plug
The plug works fine, but it was frustrating that my cooler was supplied with the wrong plug originally. I could not get any response from YETI about a replacement uner warranty and so was force to by a new one
