Ether 9 Short
Dependable trail support, a slew of functional pockets, and free-ranging flexibility all come together in the Zoic Men's Ether 9 Short. One of the most popular riding shorts in Zoic's range, the Ether 9 is a dependable choice for racking up hundreds or even thousands of miles throughout a long summer of trail riding. Since it's only an outer shell, you'll have to layer the Ether 9 over your favorite pair of padded liner shorts, which is nice if you like to customize your level of padding and support underneath.
Zoic's DuraFlex fabric withstands abrasion on the trail and stretches fluidly when you're riding hard and fast. The Ether 9 name comes from the fact that it has a nine-inch inseam, which ends up falling above the knee to promote full range of motion, especially considering its Fusion crotch gusset lending unimpeded flexibility. Zoic finishes it with a slew of zippered cargo pockets, so you can store all your trail snacks, small tools, and everyday items on rides when you don't necessarily want to carry a hydration pack.

Did not like the material
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
The design of these shorts is very good. I can tell there was thought out into them. My main dislike is the nylon-like material they are made out of. While they seem like they would be cool to wear, I was not confident they would hold up to rubbing up against small branches and bushes. I feel this type of material is better suited for casual hybrid bike riding not mtb. I returned the product. Also, my waist size fell in between a size L and. XL. After trying them in I feel a size XL would have suited me better. The size L would have worked, but I would prefer just a little more overall room. If you decide to purchase, make sure you select the correct inseam length. I must have overlooked this and the shorts I purchased were mid thigh length. Way too short for mountain biking. I don't understand why this size is even available for mountain biking!

Almost perfect

- I've put it through the wringer
These are great shorts; well-made, lots of pockets, and durable (took a nasty spill and they came away unscathed). I also love the adjustable waist for when I have had a few too many beers. As a lifelong roadie who recently got into mountain biking, I am a big fan of the 9" inseam length which is perfect for keeping the shorts out of the way while pedaling and also not looking ridiculous while off the bike :-) My only issue with them is that they are a bit heavy; would have been a perfect 5-stars if they were a bit lighter. I used my actual measurements for waist and hip and they fit true to size. Overall, highly recommended if you are looking for some stylish shorts that won't break the budget!
