I bough these Mont Blancs to replace my trusty Timp 1.5s that have over 1000miles on them. Well the MBs fell apart after 25miles in the Whites of NH. Poor fit, terrible quality. Not happy

I love these shoes for long runs and ultramarathons. I ran a 50 miler in them and they were phenomenal. They have just the right amount of cushioning, a very grippy vibram sole, no unneccessary stiff overlay in the toebox or anywhere else that would cause discomfort or blisters, the upper is the perfect material, the inside of the heel sticks to my socks like glue so I don't slide around, they are flexible and move with my feet and not against them. The only thing I would change is a little more padding and length for the tongue and also padding everywhere in the heel instead of just in certain areas. I really hope Altra reconsiders dropping these shoes, a version 2 with just a couple of little tweaks would be the perfect shoe for me. Not everybody can afford or wants carbon or boa shoes.

Failure in wet conditions and poor durability
First the positive: front of the shoe feels great, and good traction from the sole in wet trail conditions. However when wet the thin and floppy insoles shrivel up and start moving around the shoe especially when going up and down hill, with predictable blistering as a result. The heel construction is such that I can't really tighten it up even with heel lock lacing also allowing for heel movement resulting in blisters that I normally never have on my heels. As the cherry on the cake the sole is coming apart after less than 80 miles. Too bad this shoe is a total failure, because I like the extra cushion compared to the Lone Peak and the toe box space, but I guess it is back to the Speedgoats.

My favorite higher-cushion Altra shoe
I use this product during races and longer training runs. I have tried both the Olympus 5 and the Mont Blanc, and the Mont Blanc seems to work better for me. The Olympus gave me heel blisters and the Mont Blanc does not. I love how lightweight this shoe is for the amount of cushioning it has. The Vibram tread is fantastic, I wish my Lone Peaks had this tread as well. I had concerns about heel lift at first, but after a while I think I've figured out the lacing to prevent that. I have had the insole slip on me during intense downhills, so that is why I removed a star. Overall a great zero-drop, cushioned shoe.

I really want to love this shoe
Lighter than the lone peak, with a more aggressive tread. The appearance of the shoe looks great visually, and the tread looks like the grip will be fantastic, but I wasn't able to actually test it out well due to the extra cushion around the heel. It pushed my heel forwards into the shoe and created an irritating rub against it as my heel was never fully secured, even with a heel lock lacing technique. Would love to see altra swap this heel out for better lock down.

Good protection from rocks, but...
Too heavy and not enough 'feel' of the trail. So, I no longer have a sense of risk trying to 'pick through' the technical trail, but I also can't 'feel' the trail. I wish they would bring back the Goldenspike. THAT was the shoe to end all other shoes.

The most comfortable shoe I have worn
I have a morton's neuroma(pinched nerve) in each foot. These is the most comfortable shoe I have had on my feet hands down. I saw some people didn't like the heal, however no issue with it, I liked it. Durability, for me who cares I will buy more, however no problems on my first pair they are holding up and looking good. Most shoes I can't wear for more than couple hours, I wear these all day.

I want to love this shoe but...
I've owned 10+ pairs of Mont Blanc's over the last 16 months & even left a 5 star review in the past. However, I've now had 3 pairs where tread unpeeled after less than 100 miles. Twice during a race. Bummed.
