Nice Shoes
Great Shoe no doubt. Feels like running on cloud, great design. I feel this shoe is little narrow and feels tight in the middle close to the foot arc. I used Solomon before and gave 10 of 10 to it , these ones are closer. Well done brooks.

As an ultra runner I had high hopes for the Caldera but I find it very disappointing. I could be a great long distance endurance and steady state shoe but unlike the Cascadia and the Catamount it is just not comfortable enough for me. This has to do with the combination of the rubber and the specific upper of the shoe in the toe box area which is just too hard and rings the blister alarm for me from 20k onwards. I tried it with different socks under different weather conditions and there is just something wrong with that configuration. Otherwise it is nice and roomy also for me who needs as a bit of a wider toebox. Cushioning is great and despite the size it does not feel too heavy. I am using it for hiking now but as a running shoe it does not work for me. I suggest that you just take your new Glycerin Max and turn it into a trail runner - that would be a long distance trail machine. Hopefully on the next Caldera after you have gotten the toe box under control.

The Best
These men’s have not been hiking yet. But I have worn my 2prs of Calderas on 3 trips. They are the BEST, comfort is Unbelievable! I probably tried atleast 30 different styles of many brands, men & womens, any that I could find and these were the best for me! Only thing I could have used 1 to 1/2 size smaller but due to the narrowing cut of the toe box against the way our feet are made I had to upsize…..in other words they do not have a toe box like a Birkenstock, Earth or an Altra shoe which let our feet set like they were meant too. So coming down on my hikes my feet move forward & I have a good inch or more behind my heals. Like I said I tried EVERYTHING I could get my hands on and these were the Absolute BEST!!

I returned them. They seemed to run small. and even with a wide width. Will try another type.

Running for life
I was a professional runner but those days are over. Like most us has-beens, we need stability and cushioning at same time. It's difficult to have both in one shoe, but the Caldera does it. You're not going to run a mile PR in this shoe but that is not what it was designed for. It's for trails and for those of us simply trying to extend our non-competitive running life.

Stability on rough terrain
Been running in Brooks for about 12 years now. Without exception, the best shoe for cross country! Hope to use these many times in my future. Just wish they had a wide size.

Caldera 7
I like the overall design of the shoe. Comfortable and not too wide. The laces stay put. It's a little too narrow on the toe box heightwise. But I hope I'll loosen up with time. It feels a little heavy, but at 65, I need the extra cushion. Grip is great on dry or wet grass. I'm having a little pain on my right foot's outer side, but hopefully it'll go away once broken in. The Caldera 6 felt softer and more cushioned, but the 7 has better toe guard, so may last longer. Overall, it's great.

Great on the Trail
I am very satisfied with the performance of the Caldera 7 for trail running even during December in New England.

Short run
Comfortable BUT ran short, i wear a size 10.5 and my front toes were hitting the front end pretty hard, couldn't see myself wearing a larger shoe size. It didn't give me a chance to review any other topics to help others.
