Ep. 5 | Mind The Gap
If you build it, they will come—it’s up for debate if the old adage holds any truth or not. But what is certain is the snow sports version: if there’s a gap, it’ll be jumped. Watch professional snowboarder and Backcountry podcast host, Nils Mindnich, turn into a powder pilot as he soars across the iconic 120-foot Chad’s Gap in Utah’s Little Cottonwood Canyon.
Decades Of Soaring
Freeride World Tour champion and Natural Selection rider Nils Mindnich is no stranger to soaring. Always aiming for the next big send, he’s had his eye on the Little Cottonwood kicker Chad’s Gap since he started calling Utah home.
Chad’s Gap, (a short history): In the summer, the Gap is nothing more than two leftover tailing piles from a long-abandoned mine. Come winter—and 500+ inches of snow—those piles turn into an almost ready-to-go, 120’ kicker. For decades, locals and legends alike have heeded the siren call of the Gap, making it a living monument in snow sports lore. Now, Nils is planning big things for this big jump.
