Hard to beat the price of this with the sale price discounted even further. You won't find a better value for the money. The vest's color blocking is a Cotopaxi trademark, and it's very stylish. The cut is slimmer than the North Face Nuptse -- there may be a slight taper in the lower section. While this is super warm and light with big down baffles, the slimmer fit limits the layering opetions somewhat. You could fit a hoodie or light fleece under it, but for me it was a little tighter at the waistline than I deally like in a down vest. I'm, 6' 2". 220# with a slim build and I ordered the XL. If you don't have an athletic or slim build, it may be too tight in your normal size. On the plus side, even though this is a large baffle vest, it looks ever so slightly less-puffy than the Nuptse. The collar and shoulders/upper chest and back have an abrasion-resistant material, while the rest of it is smooth nylon. I think there may be a DWR coating on this part. This aids in wind- and rain resistance, as well as increased durability under a pack. The pockets zip with a flap cover, which is nice. There's a drawcord hem. Besides the slimmer cut, the Solazo lacks the inner wind flap of the Nuptse. A minor detail, but possibly some wind could get through the zipper opening in especially gusty conditions. In terms of manufacturing, it's easily made as well as the TNF or Marmot equivalents, with the color-blocking being the highlight feature. Though this was a lot of price/performance bang at the super sale price, I ended up returning mine because I also ordered a Nuptse and a Marmot Guides vest, and couldn't see myself wearing it all that often. But the quality factor is high here, and it has standout style. Design-wise, the only thing I would add is a wind flap under the zipper, but I can only surmise this was an intentional omission by Cotopaxi. Even though mine went back, I still have to give it a 5-star review.

Fits quite well and well built to last long. Love the warmth it provides in the cold northeast weather.

I wear large in the down jacket. So I brought a L, size vest & had returned it for a medium. I think a vest should be a little snugged rather than a little loose like a jacket / coat! Great choice u did going with the medium size vest. Also great quality from Cotopaxi!😁

Solano Down Vest

I bought this on a whim because I was taking a few winter courses and I swear it is one of the warmest articles of clothing I have ever owned, the downs loft is impressive and keeps me warm while I'm skiing in the backcountry

Fantastic vest at better price

It was eyeballing some expensive down vests from companies that charge multiples of this Cotopaxi sale vest. I saved myself some money and bought this one, and am grateful that I did. I’m 5’10”, 165 lbs, with a fit build and a wide back. This thing fits like a glove. Not too loose, not too tight. Just right. It’s very warm, and snug enough I can wear it as a layering piece too. The torso is a little long, which is great for body coverage, but I could see some people feeling it runs long. Overall an A++ purchase. I wires it today in New England in the low 30s when running to and from the car, and was quite content in it.

Love it!

Recently purchased the cavern/chestnut color. The fit is true to size and materials feel well made. I am 5'7 and chest size is 37-38 and M fits really well. It definitely has enough room to wear a sweater under which is great. The vest is a little on the longer size for me but I don't mind it as much and it does have a cinch to tighten it. Overall I love this vest and the color was a must have for me.
