Why We Like The Katana Lace Climbing Shoe

When an area has a little bit of everything, we approach with the Katana Lace clipped to our pack. This one-shoe quiver smears on slab, twists into cracks, edges on faces, and loads the toe on overhangs, giving us that send performance on every line. Now with increased rubber coverage on the heel, this shoe gives bomber hooks too.

excellent for teen boy with slender feet

37.5

My son started wearing this at 13yrs old, and he has narrow feet. This was the perfect 'leveling up' from the Red Chili Puzzle shoe, which trained him to wear a more advanced shoe and keep the curl in his foot/toes. It's got a great heel fit if you have slender ankles and soft fabric cushion on top. Some may not like that. The fabric will absorb sweat, and you can pull out odor by shoving crumpled newspaper balls into the shoe for a day. Lastly, I agree with other people who suggest sizing down by 0.5, or 1 for some - but beware they are very stiff out of the box and will hurt to get your feet in, so give 1-2 weeks to break them in. We kept the same size because my son's feet are still growing and they were comfy right out of the box, with the stiff toe area still usable, and he still has room to grow into it.

Size issues.

I generally wear a 39.5 mens Katana (old model), 39.5 women's solution. 40 TC pro and they all perform great out of the box. I purchased the new women's katana in a 39.5 and they feel super comfortable but a bit clunky. They would be great for all day/all around use but when it comes to honing in on small edges it feels like I'm closing my eyes and praying that my feet don't pop off. This is similar to what my tc pros (40) feel like when I'm edging. I think the new katanas may run a 1/4 to 1/2 size large. A friend of mine had the same experience with the new mens katana and ended up buying a 1/2 size down to compensate and is satisfied. I will be exchanging mine for a size down and will report back.

Women's Katanas are great for men too

I decided to purchase these bc I couldn't find my size (42) in the men's version anywhere and I was utterly jubilated to find out that these are just as good (if not better). They're a bit softer than the regular Katana Lace and the fit of the new models is about a half size larger than the old ones. If you're a 42.5 in the old shoe than get a 42 or 41.5 -- you won't regret it.
