Excellent boots
Sturdy, excellent for walking outside in winter such as on ice.

Moab 3 QUALITY HIKERS...
For my money no one beats Merrell's Moab 3 Mid. The uppers hold up very well, and the Vibram soles are the best in the industry. They are supe comfortable right out of the box, and they have just the right support for those of us with foot issues. Long ago I heard an old man say, "You never spend bad money when you buy quality shoes." That sums up the Moab 3.

Comfortable right out of box. True to size 8-1/2 wide. Super easy to lace up. Replaced my last pair after 15yrs of hiking our National Parks.

Good so far!
I have not put them through any major testing at this point, but straight out of the box this boot is extremely comfortable. I got the wide size (9.5) and really enjoy them so far.

NOT WATERPROOF
NOT WATERPROOF. I've owned regular and waterproof styles and not only are the regular more comfortable (slightly), cheaper, but also just as waterproof (not at all).

Comfortable but not waterproof
Comfortable, but my first pair lost their waterproofing within a few months. When I filed a warranty claim, Merrell denied it because I had not purchased them from an "approved vendor" (I got them brand new on Amazon). I only bought these again because they are more comfortable for me than most. You cannot count on them being waterproof, at least not for long, and you surely cannot count on Merrell to back them up if there is an issue. Try other brands first.
