Why We Like The Mountain Hardwear Dynama Lined High Rise Pant

When things get a little chilly on the mountain, we like the Mountain Hardwear Dynama Lined High Rise Pant. The Dynama fabric features plenty of stretch, and it's brushed for extra warmth for our shoulder season hiking and winter bouldering. We like the high-rise waist for comfort and the cinch at the waistband and hems for a performance fit for our mountain pursuits.

Not for petite women

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it
Size Bought:
XS

I have been looking for warmer pants to wear in the winter and have tried many brands smallest sizes (0, XS) and they have all been way too big. I have several pair of the non-lined Dynama and the XS fits perfectly, so I was hopeful seeing they made a lined version. I ordered XS, but they are sized MUCH larger than the non-lined version. Disappointing since the quality and warmth looked to be just what I wanted. I had to unfortunately return them! For reference I’m 5’2”, 105lb, 34” hips.

Boxy, unflattering fit. Too short

I really wanted these to work because I love the unlined version of these pants but these fit completely different. They were bulky, didn't lay well and were way too short.

Lining doesn't stretch

As others mentioned, Dynama's are usually a great stretchy pant. The outside material is the same, but the inside is an odd mesh that does not stretch. The waistband is also smallish and not stretchy. Returned them - based on the wrinkled wadded up condition of the pair received, it is not the first time they have been returned.

No restrictions! Comfy and warm and easy to move in. Buttonless waist is the best fitting pants I have. Fun color too.

Comfy and warm hiking and anytime pants. Fun color too.

Great Adventure Pant

Comfy, lined pant that delivers on the high waist so I don't worry about moving and bending while out and about. Exactly what I'd hoped for!

Very comfortable

Very happy with these lined pants. They have a drawstring to keep them in place. I'm a bit curvy, they are snug over my hips, but fit my waist great (XL 220lbs). So soft and comfortable, no scratchy seams and tag free, no rubbing, great for longer cold hikes (used for 30°). The velcro side pockets are not great, (but I will probably remove the velcro at some point)... you have to use two hands to open, with a over flap there is really no reason for the velcro. Side lower pocket fits my phone perfect. I wish the material was a bit tougher, snagged them on some prickers first hike I went on.

Very soft and comfortable.

I've used these pants on a variety of hikes recently. I found that they are VERY comfortable. A bit fitted at the waist, so getting the over hips is a little slow (XL 220lbs). But once over my hips, the draw string is very nice to keep them in place. For hikes around 30° F they were perfect. No need for extra long johns. The side pockets are deep, I don't love the velcro (I will probably take it off someday) overall keeps things in reach, zipper pocket fits my phone. Draw string on the leg opening will be handy for muddy walks in the cold wet Michigan spring. Wish they were a bit more durable material, snagged on a few prickers first trip out. But overall would recommend.

Comfy, but not for curvy people

I'm 5'8, 125 pounds. Waist 26 inches, hips around 38. I wouldn't consider myself "curvy", but if you have any bum, these can be a pain to get on. I bought a size small, and they're difficult to get over my hips but then pretty relaxed in the waist, but the drawstring helps. My phone doesn't fit in the zippered pocket, and it takes two hands to get the phone in the Velcro pockets, so not super convenient. Otherwise they're comfy. I ran errands in them in 10⁰ weather today and my legs were warm enough.
