As we lean into the icy gale, bowing our head to the spindrift and high stepping through knee-deep powder, the Mountain Hardwear Phantom Alpine Down Hooded Jacket keeps our core warmth wrapped close. The raglan sleeves ensure our range is limitless for a quick self-arrest on a slip, while responsibly sourced down keeps the heat high and the weight low. We adjust the hood over our helmet for added protection that doesn't hinder our peripheral and cinch the hem to stop winter from blowing in. With a two-way zip and a treated exterior, this puffy is built for technical ascents in cruel conditions, giving us easy access to our harness's tie-in points and shedding light snow, hail, and rain.

Great!
I love the color and I got a size medium and it is the perfect length and has room to fit a sweatshirt or whatever I need underneath

Roomy Shoulders
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Size Bought:
- Small
Excellent shoulder mobility, even with a size small. Very roomy shoulders and still a nice snug fit to stop cold air from getting under my jacket. Love the color- purple cobalt. Highly recommend this, especially if you are small, but have broad shoulders. I’m 5ft 4 inches, 120 lbs.

good warm jacket, but it looks like it always needs improvement in the zipper part, this one it is even more troublesome in the zipper where you have to put it together to close it. it has been giving me some issues, nothing mayor but it is kind of a pain
The zipper its a little defective in the bottom where it joints

NEVER RECIEVED THE JACKET
This system seems broken... are you seriously asking me to review a jacket for which I never received and you kept my money for nearly a month while 'investigating' before allowing me to initiate a return?!? I missed the trip I was going to use the jacket on, so 0 Stars!

Comfy, but under-stuffed
I have the 2022 version of this jacket. It is very comfortable and I love the oversized collar for when I forget my neck warmer. The big pockets can fit a Nalgene, and it's long enough to keep my butt toasty (I am 5'8", 150lbs and wear the size medium). It is not nearly as warm as I expected though. For the price and the warmth advertised, it is under-stuffed. There are bare patches around the shoulders and inner arms due to the down shifting around, leaving only 2 thin layers of nylon between me and the outside. Even at -15C the cold comes through, so I wear extra layers underneath if I am going to be standing around. This is not due to loss of loft or down leaking out.

cute, but could be warmer
I wanted to love this jackets so much! The blue-ish/purple color was great! and the jacket was pretty warm, but I wanted down-right hot. My husband has last years model of this coat and loves it. He runs warm. What it felt like to me was that I do not create enough heat to warm it up well. It felt like getting into cold sheets. I ended up buying the RAB Neutrino, which felt like putting on a warm blanket. Something about the fabric differences, maybe? IDK. If you are not "always cold" this could be the perfect coat for you. It really is cute!

Would be perfect if waterproof
Love the purple color and warmth of this jacket. The 2 issues I have are that it isn’t fully waterproof, and it also sweats through relatively quickly (and is noticeable due to the color). If you wear it in the super cold, you will stay toasty warm though! Plenty of pockets and the large is roomy enough for me to layer fleece and clothes underneath. I’m 5’4” and 160lbs.
