Why We Like The Mountain Hardwear Threshold Jacket
Packable and trail-ready, the Mountain Hardwear Threshold Jacket lets us keep exploring after the clouds make good on their threat. The breathable membrane keeps us dry, not muggy, while the underarm zips let us boost airflow when the trek gets a little more tasking. As we navigate narrow and technical trails, rock and brush slide right off the abrasion-resistant ripstop material, and the hem and cuffs adjust for a streamlined, snag-free fit.

TERRIBLE Zipper!
The zipper on this jacket is terrible! It frequently stuck in the early days, often catching the inside of the jacket and now separates from the bottom up, constantly. The jacket has become unusable in the space of months from purchase. I have had Northface rain jackets last decades, so the poor quality of my first Mountain Hardware jacket has shocked me.

Great option
I love this rain jacket. Perfect for Seattle weather! I ordered a Large so I could layer underneath and it’s a perfect fit for me. For reference I’m 5’3 with a 38in chest size. Sizing is accurate.

Just ok
The cut is very different that my last Mountain Hardware jacket. Much longer and I ordered and XS based on other reviews and it still is bigger than I would like. The colour online seems a bit darker/richer than the actual jacket. If I didn’t need to use it right away (lost my old jacked from MH which I really loved) I would have returned it. It is waterproof though 👍🏻 do functions as needed just fits large.

Not the right choice for use with backpack.
I basically narrowed down my MH rain shell choice by the colour - the washed raisin is gorgeous. In the end, not the right jacket for me. Hand pockets are too low to be used with a back pack and a chest pocket for phone would be much appreciated. Also a fabric loop at the neck to hang the jacket would be great, can only be hung by the hood. I found it runs quite big - I'm 5'5", 140lbs - usually wear mediums found it quite baggy around the torso/stomach. Would size down to a small next time. It kept me nice and dry on my 5 day hike but I will be choosing something else that allows better use with a backpack for future trips.
