Why We Like The Trango 4 Tent
Having been around since 1995, the Trango Tent from Mountain Hardwear has been tailored for the most rugged, remote places, and continues to get better every year. The new features we love on this iteration include an updated bathtub-style floor, burly DirectConnect guy-out points and pole clips, mesh doors with a zip-away nylon cover, and snow flaps along the bottom of the vestibule to keep drafts and spindrift from creeping in.
As an alpine basecamp-style tent, the Trango is what we rely on to stand up to high winds and heavy snow. It uses four DAC Featherlight aluminum poles to pitch up as solidly as you could ever want, and even has a fifth pole that supports the vestibule, giving you tons of weatherproof space for gear-storing and booting up. The poles, tent body, and fly clip together at every guy-out point to create a bombproof shelter that won't get rattled to bits during an all-time storm, and all the seams are fully taped to lock out moisture—in fact, the Trango's been through a rain room test in which it was subjected to 1200in of rain in 24 hours, just to make sure it would stay dry. Good luck finding a storm that bad.

Bomber
Bought for an attempt of Aconcagua. Turns out it was the perfect tent for the upper mountain. Used it for 6 nights above 16,000ft in wind gusts upwards of 50mph. This thing is bomber. No issues with condensation either. I'm not sure I'd squeeze 4 adults in there. with 25" pads you'd be hard pressed to fit 4, 3 was quite cozy. My only complaints: there is only one window and vent, yet the fly can go on either way. I'd like to see a vent on both sides of the tent body and a window on each side of the fly.

The tend I never knew I needed
If you want one tent to do it all look no further. The construction is exceptional and the features perfect for any excursion. Thus far I've had it in 20 degree temps in the Rockies and 60 degree temps on the Colorado Plateau. I do alot of camping and have had other tents I felt to be great options that never lived up to the hype. If I ever wear this tent out it will be replaced with another.

Up Year Round
Solid tent. Have had it up through the end of the winter, all the through spring and into the summer here in Montana. Will check back in as winter arrives.

Best 4 person tent out there.
This is by far the best 4 season tent for big multiday trekking or mountaineering adventures. This has been the perfect tent for our Kilimanjaro trips for the past 15 years and we continue to purchase this tent. More expensive than others, but lasts twice as long. An amazing product.

The Everlasting tent
My first experience with Mountain hard wear was with my purchase of a Sky View 3, and a down sleeping bag with "crazy legs." Not really sure what year that was, some time in the mid-90's? Used that tent from Alaska to Assateaque island, with a lot of Rockies in between. Now, married with two children, pulled out the Sky View and all of us (with a dog ) crammed in there for 5 day canoe trip in the Adirondacks. worked great. All this to say, this purchase is for snow camping, it is nice and large enough for all of us and the pup, for our winter excursions. Excited to get out there for some shoeing adventures. Dont know if we will end up on a glacier like the Sky View, but this thing is so solid that it would do excellent. Just solid designs that have lasted through several decades with some cool improvements.

Solid tent
Color coordinated for easy set up. Large tent, sub 10lbs! One thing to keep in my if you are backpacking, it’s large and takes up considerable space in your pack, but it’s worth it. 4 season, 4 person. My argument is having more space to play cards, store gear, and move if a predator is outside. I like having room to negotiate if a large animal is on the wall of my tent vs the 2 person tents.

Love this burly tent
Bought last model Trango (orange) to holdup to the winds at burning man after going through a number of other tents out there. Now it’s our regular use tent. We take it backpacking, car camping, canoeing, etc. The orange one had an issue with the fly hooks coming off from UV damage, so they credited me for the tent and I was able to pickup the newer Trango (blue). Feels great to buy gear from a company that stands by it.

Quality of the window
Nice tent, but my brand new tent window taping was flaking off and unglued in a few places. I think MHW should redesign or abolish the window if MHW can’t control the quality.

Absolutely Wonderful
I bought this tent a year ago (4/25/20)and set it up in my back yard. I have been sleeping in for 365+ day’s. (My house was been remodeled from top to bottom. So I use the tent as out side bedroom. Plus I love camping on top of everything else.) Now,this tent is very out standing with it’s construction and the materials that were use to make the tents. It has stood up to all the different weather’s. That mid-west can throw at you on any given day.(rain, snow, and blistering cold weather). I love this so much, I decided to buy a second one for camping trips with friends and family.

Hearty tent!
We made a major upgrade with this tent from our previous one. It lived up to the expectations and beyond them. Putting it together is fairly straightforward and it looks fantastic. We camped on top of Independence Pass (CO) and got a huge thunderstorm our first night. We stayed dry inside!
