Rainfly Disintegrates
I bought this tent a several years back and it worked great initially and then I took it out on a backpack hike and got caught in rain, tent leaked horrendously, luckily there was a shelter on the trail that I was able to use. Tent works great and is fairly light but only good for good weather. By the time I went to try and replace it was already out of warranty. I came on to see if MSR offered a new rainfly as an option to purchase as a replacement. Alas, it doesn't seem like they do. Over-all would not recommend.

Rain fly
We have two of these we have had them for 4-5 years. Rain flys failed after the first year. Got caught in a pop shower this weekend and it just rained in our tents. Only good for dry weather camping. Would not recommend.

rainfly leaks
We have this tent for about 5 years. We take good care of it, but like other reviews stay the rain fly quality is no good. Seems are flaking and rainfly is no longer waterproof. I would not recommend this product

Rainfly not Waterproof
My wife and I purchased this tent a few years ago and it worked well the first year or two but afterwards, whenever it rained, significant amounts of condensation and water started infiltrating the tent, we tried waterproofing again with Nikwax spray and attaching the rainfly differently to give it more space but it just does not work properly. This is very disappointing and frustrating as we use the tent once or twice per year only. We also got our sleeping bags and gear wet on several occasions, which can quickly ruin a trip. Otherwise the tent is very spacious and easy to assemble.

Too small
We are so disappointed. We were told it was a spacious tent for 3 people. We are only two and wandering where the third one could sleep. We had no space for anything else but our sleeping bags. We opted for this model thinking we could lodge our day pack….

My favorite company for tents
I love the design. I have the Elixir 1 and use that when I bikepack Very spacious for a 3 person backpacking tent. I'm pretty sure the people who are commenting about the lack of waterproof may be referring to the morning dew/ condensation of moisture that builds up on the inside of the tent in the early morning. One the best tent companies out here.

Spacious!
Very spacious for a 3 person backpacking tent. Nice cruved pole design that keeps the tent low to the ground in the wind.

Rainfly degrades
I have the MSR Elixir 3 for about two years and the rainfly has completely degraded and has now deemed my tent unusable. I loved this tent and it worked so good but for the money I spent it didn’t last.

Fly failure
I have the Elixir 3 tent and love the design of the tent. It is easy to assemble and the doors are large and the zippers are high quality. It withstands high wind extremely well. I'd give it 4 or 5 stars for that, but unfortunately the waterproofing on the fly is poor. After only 4 years the seam tape has completely degraded and the fabric is no longer waterproof. I always take great care of my camping gear and pack it clean and dry. I switched to the MSR Elixir 3 to have a bigger tent for all my gear since I only camp from my vehicle. Trying to decide whether to try a re-waterproof the fly or get a new tent.

When it rains it’s poor
Tent is great , good layout, zippers etc but the rain fly material was awful , it peeled away on our second use, and we got completely wet. Clear material defect. Contacted MSR twice ( email and pictures) was auto replied that MSR would be follow up it’s been over a year and nothing. Tent is unfortunately useless now without a rain fly.
