If this weekend's adventure is prefaced with the phrase "the gang's all here", then we're gonna want to pack the Aurora Highrise 6-person Tent. It hosts a large temporary living space for us and our friends to ensure we all have room to toss and turn at night. Its two huge vestibules work as spacious mudrooms where we know our boots and food will be safe from the weather. NEMO built it with large rain-protected No-See-Um mesh windows that finely balance ventilation and rain protection.

Trial by Fire
Day 2 of camping with the new tent and we got hit by a pop-up storm with quite a bit of hail and severe wind. We survived and the tent performed like a champ. My only complaint is that it is difficult to close the rainfly front door from the inside, as you have to stand halfway in the tent to do it, but what are you gonna do? It’s probably just me being completely uncoordinated. :)

Forty plus hours of rain . . .
NO leaks! I believe the trick is to make sure your inner tent is not touching the outer tent anywhere. The outer tent has to be taut enough and fully guyed out especially on an uneven site such as I am on. In the photo unseen in the back of the tent I am anchored to the pine tree. It lifts the tent up a bit. Very airy. Great ventilation. The photo was taken before it was full guyed and staked out. The set up was exhausting since I did it myself. Had to use SnowPeak 15 inch and longer stakes to self pitch — otherwise the smaller stakes pull out. With two people, perhaps the smaller stakes would suffice. No buyer’s remorse.
