I love this bag! I

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this bag! I wanted a work bag that could transition from tote to backpack and this fit the brief perfectly. I love that the tote and backpack straps can be tucked away so that they're not getting dragged on the ground when not in use. It's a touch small, but that just means that I can't over stuff it and it's never too heavy. I have managed to fit two laptops, an iPad, a notebook and a pencil case with room to spare though :)

Fantastic backpack. I work in

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Fantastic backpack. I work in the Adventure travel industry and have taken this bag on several international trips which involve tons of networking, meetings, and running from place to place. This bag comfortably carried my ipad, a sweater, my giant yeti waterbottle (I also miss the waterbottle pockets on bags but the front pocket where the straps hide worked great), billions of business cards, my 'mess kit' for flying, and snacks, always snacks. I'm really stoked to finally have a bag thats small enough it's comfortable but big enough to carry what I need. Only complaint so far is the straps seem a bit wide. As in, they are sewed wide on the bag so they sit on my outer shoulder if that makes sense. Didnt seem to be an issue and I got used to it but there were points early on when I kept like I needed to 'pull the bag' up on my shoulders, especially when it was full.

I love my Arcane tote-pack.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love my Arcane tote-pack. It’s attractive, comfortable, ever so spacious, easy to carry, and reasonably priced. The long handles, which can be hidden away, make the bag easy to transport. The tech panel is useful. I really enjoy using this bag. I can suggest some improvements, however. I took off one star for the absence of a water bottle holder and the absence of a sternum or waist strap. Other bags in the Arcane series do feature a water bottle holder, so why is it absent on this bag? When I am carrying a heavy load and bend over, I find that the pack folds forward over my head! A sternum strap or waist strap might correct that. I also find that it is difficult to unhook the shoulder straps from their attachment to the bottom of the bag. Perhaps the attachment loops could be made a bit larger. Somehow I love this bag so much that none of these issues are deal breakers.

well-made, comfortable, classy look

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Height:
5' 3"

I am 5'3" and it's difficult to find a backpack that is the right height, with shoulder straps not too widely set. I also had a list of "must have"s and "want to have"s. I ordered Arcane Tote Pack, Arcane Large Daypack, and Daylite Tote Pack, all 20L capacity. Arcane Tote Pack is my favorite: it does not check all the boxes (no water bottle holder, no chest strap), and is a bit heavier than I wanted, but the trade off is that it has some structure so it will maintain the shape when not full, and the padded back and shoulder straps are very comfortable to wear. I can use the front stash pocket for water bottles, and I won't need a chest strap. Mine is brindle color with blue/lavender straps, and it looks classy and appropriate as a business bag. Arcane Large Daypack is supposed to be shorter in height than this Arcane Totepack because Totepack has fold-down design. However, Arcane Totepack's back panel is shorter by about an inch, and that extra inch made a lot of difference in terms of comfort because Arcane Large Daypack extend down to my tailbone and it didn't feel comfortable. If not for that, I like the simplicity and elegant design of this bag very much. If you have a longer torso than I do, this won't be a problem. Daylite Totepack checks all my boxes, is comfortable, and lighter than Arcane. I am deciding to keep both because I like the look of Arcane better for everyday business and Daylite will come in handy for travel. FYI, tote bag straps are about the same length in Daylite and Arcane - a bit short for wearing over the shoulder, but if longer, it would be awkward to carry by hand- , but straps on Acrane is a bit more comfortable because of the design and fabric. This was my first order with Backcountry, and I am impressed by price, great selections, and how quickly bags were sent.

Great for a weekend trip

This is great for a weekend trip. Fit my clothes and toiletries for 3 days. Very comfortable wearing it at the airport and around town till I could check in at a hotel. Love how you can switch to the tote handles. The structure components for your back give great support. Canvas like texture that stays clean. Very happy with this!
