Astroman Sun Hoodie - Men's

The best sun shirt, period.

This thing is incredibly lightweight compared to other similar sun shirts. I can wear this as a base layer when hiking, a shirt on the beach or on the e water, and anything in between. I only wish it came in more colors.

Does the job

It works but seems a little baggy around the wrists and arms. I have a large and will try a med next time (510/180).

The best Sun Hoodie Money can buy

This sun hoody is one of my favorite pieces of gear- I have 3 that I rotate. They are lightweight, wick moisture, and block the wind (to an extent) that makes the sun hoody quite comfortable. It is a good size/thickness that does not feel warm or snug on the body- I've warn this in 105+ degree heat, and was glad I had it on. I wish it was a bit more durable, but it's durability is already better than other sun hoodies.

I like the fabric, keeps me cool and dry in hot summer days. Zipper is great for controlling body heat when active. Overall very glad I bought it. Odor control underperforms compared to some of my other gear.

Almost Great

I absolutely love OR's Astroman fabric. It is thin and light, and doesn't retain too much water when I sweat. The fabric is tightly woven (I think... didn't look like a knit to me) and provides solid bug protection as well. It doesn't breath as well as some other fabrics, but that's a known trade off (bug protection vs breathability). The half zip provides nice mechanical ventilation which makes up for a bit of the lack of breathability of the material. I only have two complaints about this product: 1- The material is prone to snags / pilling. The good news- is this flaw appears to be mostly cosmetic in nature and the material itself is pretty durable - but if you aren't planning on using this in the backcountry and you care about cosmetics- it could be a bummer and is worth mentioning. 2- I don't like the wrist cuffs. The elastic is a little tight which restricts air movement (would be less of an issue if the fabric was more breathable). Also- the thumb loop is just a piece of elastic sewn into the cuff - not particularly comfortable and doesn't really keep the fabric over much of your hands if you are looking for sun protection there. If it wasn't for the wrist cuffs I would have given this hoodie 5 stars - I personally don't care if the material snags / pills since I bought it with the intent of using it primarily on backpacking trips. Since I love the fabric so much I just ordered the Astroman long-sleeved button up. I think the button cuffs on it will do much better for ventilation. The only down side is no hood. I'd love to see OR put a hood on something full zip or button or fix the wrist cuffs on this.

New favorite sun hoodie. The material is light, unrestrictive, and durable. I ordered a size up to accommodate my build, which provided a more relaxed, less technical fit for coastal use. The zip neck is a welcome addition, allowing for increased ventilation. Couldn't be more pleased.

This instantly become the first option in my closet if it's clean. It's far lighter than any "water-sport" polyester blend sun hoodies. It breathes as well as anything can; probably one of the best. The cuffs are elastic hemmed while there are also thumb loops. I don't feel as if I need the thumb loops with the hem. It's perfect for climbing, I feel. The stitching on my product around the wrist looks loose in one spot after a few wears but I'm not worried about it all. It's not that's not fixable or even an issue if the elastic cuff blows out. The sleeve lengths are perfect; 6' 1" 200#s with a neutral/slightly + ape index

Does what it is supposed to and looks great

This is one of those pieces of gear that I just can't stop using. I finally figured out the importance of sun protection last year. I was really tired of burning my neck and ears. I started with an Echo hoodie and finally picked this one up a few months ago. I've been going back and forth between the two. I use the Echo on the really hot days and the Astroman when it is a little cooler since I wear a base layer under it. I plan on picking up another color one of these days.
