Why We Like The Saris H3 Plus Direct Drive Smart Trainer
With the Saris H3 Plus Direct Drive Smart Trainer, riding inside our pain cave during the winter months is quieter, smoother, and more fun than ever before. This 20lb precision-balanced flywheel creates realistic inertia, handles up to 2000 watts at 20mph, and even simulates a 20% climbing grade to keep up with our heavy training program. But most importantly, with a sound specification of just 59 decibels at 20mph, we can hear our TV or music without blasting the volume and annoying our families.

Love the Saris H3!!
Have had it for a few months and it has worked flawlessly! What can I say? Works great with Rouvy.

Great trainer at a great price
Great trainer at a great price! Easy to set up, install bike and at a great price! Came from a wahoo kicker and wasn’t a fan of a tire driving requiring a trainer tire. This is way quieter and likely more accurate

Absolute Bargain
I snagged the H3 plus when they dropped the price a few months back. I have my old road bike setup on it… 10 speed Shimano rear cassette. I don’t plan on taking that bike on the road so I just removed my cassette from my rear wheel and used that with the current chain on the bike. Install is very straight forward with easy to understand pictures. I had used a Saris Fluid 2 trainer for a while and this smart trainer is a big step up. I have used it with Whoosh with zero issues. But, honestly I use the Saris app to just pick my wattages and play games on my iPad while I ride more often than not. This allowed me to move my fluid 2 to my work, where I work a lot of nights and weekends. So that was another bonus. I calibrate my trainer every ride before I begin. I’m not sure if it’s overkill, but it allows me to stretch and warmup a bit before I set off. I’m pretty serious cyclist, but I was out of it for a while and I’m older now. I don’t run into any power limitations on the trainer, but this seems to be a limitation between this and the ultra expensive trainers. If you’re a serious incline junkie with ham hocks, you may need to do some more research on that. I’ve had no connectivity issues whatsoever. I usually just use my had to turn the crank a bit and soon as the green light flashes, start up the Saris app. That hasn’t failed yet.

Very nice trainer for the money!
Very nice trainer compared to my previous on-wheel trainer. Seems very accurate and nice and quiet.

Works flawlessly, slightly obtuse to set up
Got this trainer cause it seemed like a good deal and that turned out to be correct. It feels like a very premium product, and has been working great. I've used it with Trainerroad for a month now. Never had any issue connecting to it and it is always connected within 10 secs. I was surprised how much the free wheel feels like riding outside. I tried zwift briefly and thought it was really cool how you could feel the hills virtually. It's also very quiet and not much louder than a normal bike is. I previously had a wheel-on trainer and it was so loud. Having something quiet makes it more pleasant to use. I feel like there is now less between me sitting on the couch and riding the trainer. I was really concerned with bike compatibility so here's some helpful info. I am using it with my 12 spd SLX XC mtb and I used an old 9 speed HG road cassette. In erg mode it works great, though I've ordered a 12 spd road cassette to have better gear shifts. (doesn't make sense to get a mtb cassette bc they cost way more). I will say it took me a while to set this thing up and I think the manual could have better descriptions of what it expects you to do. But now it's set up I don't have to touch it for a while, so it's not the biggest problem.

Close to the feel of a real ride
The H3 Plus is very close to the feel of a real ride, and its afforadble This replaced my old Kinetic Road Machine Control which for it's time was great, but the H3 Plus is a big improvement. The direct drive is quiet and stable, and no more tire wear or tire dust. I've tried it with Rouvy (20 rides), Fulgaz (10 rides) and Bkool (11 rides) with no problems connecting to the H3 Plus, HRM and separate cadence unit. The Saris app is great for simple warmups; you can increase/decrease resistance in 10 watt increments. Saris shipped it quickly and the unit is well protected. Setup was easy; nothing to assemble. Just fold out the side supports and plug it in.

First trainer
I started riding gravel this year and fell in love, but then winter hit. Now I have my first trainer and it helps me get through the cold. Love it.

Big upgrade from an old fluid trainer
Set up was easy and works well with my 12 speed Shimano drivetrain. Connects with Zwift no problem.

I'm using a Garmin 910XT watch and HRM and want to use Zwift. Do I need to purchase a ANT+ for the H3 pro or can I connect to app via Bluetooth on my PC/cell phone? I'm not clear if I need to purchase ANT+ and bluetooth dongle or is it built in?

Is the H3 plus compatible with a 11-speed cassette ?

I just bought the trainer H3 plus and have a 12 speed SRAM force casset. Apparently it will not fit on the shaft that came with the trainer. Do I need to get an adapter to make it work?

The product description implies that the product is ready for bikes with 142/148mm through-axle spacing between the rear forks. That is, that a 142/148mm through-axle adapter is already included. Is this true? Or do I have to buy that separately?
